Mongoose Hall, 11 May

Tankdriver

Banded Mongoose
Other than the ACTA tourney, is there anything going on that someone can join later in the day? I was thinking of attending, but I am coming from Germany, and probably cannot spend the night before or after.

According to a flyer I got with my ACTA order, there are participation games of: Vas, World at war, BFE Modern, Runequest, Traveller, Thermopylae 480BC, Bite of the Wolf (sci fi), Hour of Glory (WWII).

Demo games of 40k, ACTA. (I don't know what the difference is between participation and demo games is).

And traders: Newline designs, Ironclad minis, Shell Hole Scenics, Donnington Minis, RH Models, Bolt Action, Taplescape, Sceaptune Games, Anita Books, Realistic wargames, Warm Acre, Parkfield Minis.

I know there'll be a World at War demo as I'll be running it....

Demonstration games are where people play the game and you can watch. Participation games are where you can join in. So technically speaking the ACTA tournament is also the demonstration game...

I certainly hope we can have even more to do on the day, but that depends on other people who can only give a reply the week before.

We also have a couple of extra traders since the flyer (have a click on the banner on the front page for a current, full list).

Swindon is pretty easy to get to by rail or train, and the centre is not too far away from the centre of town (Taxi is a possibility, but if you have a map and twenty minutes (half an hour+ if you are slow and/or uuseless at using maps) walk (I can walk pretty quickly when I want to!)

Stealthy Spider will be there as well, now. They run a marvellous participation game - good to look at, nice theme. Dog Soldiers or Zombie Apocalypse (and more, I am sure).

Each player controls a single mini so it is closer to roleplaying in that regard, but the way it is set up makes it more a skirmish wargame.

(I have never played in their games but they are always very popular at the shows I go to and look awesone).

I'm hoping to be there with Steve Blease of Wessex Games, doing some of the "Air War" series of games that are available from Wargaming Online.

I am really starting to wish this was possible, but with the upcoming trip to Scotland, I am not sure if I can get the time at work or home to head there for a day or two. Just travel is likely to cost an arm and a leg.

Oh I'm officially convinced!

STEVE BLEASE?!!!

I'm a massive Flintloque (original version!) and Panzerfauste fan. I'd really like to have a chat with him. If he's going, I might organise a game of Land Ironclads then! :D

Cheers Reborn mate.
It's a fantasy game that has very large links with Napoleonic History, quite tongue in cheek, but good, honest fun.
Steve Blease helped write the original version.
Panzerfauste is another Fantasy game, similar setting, but WW1/WW2 style background. Again, written by Blease, but under a different company. :)

I've two copies of Firefight. Always thought it should have come with cardboard figs, or been a boxed game with minis or die-cut counters.

Great Squad & Tactical game.

I've always played it with labels on pennies...

Love to see more on the Ion Age setting.
