Mongoose
A lot of people have come up with a lot of ideas for ACTA, some of which might be seen as good ideas. Just not in line with the general direction of that game, or product. Another example is Preludes 'Nike', which is more based on fan fiction etc.

Would it not be a good idea for Mongoose to create an Online mag (Similar to GW's Journal), that would cover these rule ammendments, and additional features. But on the condition that they are 'NOT' official, and are aimed at local game house rules.

It could be published on a quaterly basis, and cover all the products supported by Mongoose. It can also be a good recruiting platform for Mongoose, and draw in some good fan fiction too, in one presentation. Mongosse could then produce it as a PDF, and publish it here on the website.

It's an interesting one...

Personally I'd rather see it all in S&P but with something akin to GW's old "Chapter Approved" logo indicating which articles are officially written by Mongoose as extensions/revisions/corrections to the games and which are unofficial fan suggestions. Sometimes I have a hard time telling which is which :)

Sounds good to me. At least that way, all the official stuff could be put into S&P, with player suggestions going in the gazette, such as a bunch of different fighter rules, or alternate crit tables. Then Mongoose could take feedback and develop one or two of the more promising deas.

I'd be in favour of this, since competition to get into S&P seems to be pretty fierce and limited to 'officially sanctioned' materiel.

S&P, after all, is part of Mongoose' public face, meant to attract new gamers as well as interest those of us who are already here; to newbies, the Sag/Centauri beams/Fighters and so forth debates will look a little opaque.

This seems to be the easiest way, and could apply to all of the Wargame systems equally as well as being potentially useful for the Roleplaying side as well.

Classifications might include;
Errata (Specifically, fixing typos)
Clarification/FAQ (Stuff that wasn't thought of)
New Stuff (New additions to the standard rules)
Playtest (Things that are known to be less-than balanced or under development)

Now why'd you want to do something damned silly like that. Monoose is perfect. Didn't you know that the G in Mongoose is a typo? :D

Hiff and myself were discussing something very similar recently. If you look through the B5 RPG there is a galaxy full of really cool fluff which could be transferred over via fandom into B5 as non canon. E.g. the Drazi have a shadowtech vessel, the Duskhawk, a little modelling, a little painting and a few tweaks on the stat line and you have a nice article, conversion miniature and a new (non official) ship for your Drazi!
Hiffano in particular has a ton of cool stuff he could contribute fairly rapidly.

The only reason I voted NO is due to people who will take what is in the Gazette as gospel, even though it states it is not.

Arguing with people who can't read the legal fineprint, no matter how large, is not my forte.

I have where what now! I swear, you do one PDF doc and look what happens!

Not so, I was discussing some recent S&P content with Matthew and noting that it contradicted published supplements. matthew mentioned that only stuff in S&P which says it's official is official.

But I vote yes, if there's enough material to go round.

Are you thinking something like the 'old' Babcom was to Wars? (In case anyone wants something to point to other then GW!) I recently found it and had a pretty good week or so of reading through all 22-ish back issues. Seemed like a very professional group of fans got together and wrote out everything from tactics to fiction to fan based ships. I'd be glad to see something like that for CtA.
