Minimum Needs?

My FLGS gets BF:E later this week, and I've already drummed up some interest in the game. The one question we want to know from those who already have some, is how many do you need to field a decent intro force?

Is a box of troops and a tank enough to start with?

Certainly enough to get you started - 2 boxes of infantry and one tank will get you well away.

We're just outside cambridge in the town of St. Neots.

Depends on what faction you're playing as well. If you're going with the MEA you'll have to buy four or five boxes of infantry unless you wait for wave 2. Otherwise two boxes of infantry and a tank should do it.

Yeah, the MEA wave 1 guys only cost 80 points, about half the cost of a similarly sized USMC or EFTF squad. However, wave 2 and 3 releases have quite a few effective units that'll help eat up points

yup MEA are thye hardest to do with with wave 1 but the others its a cae of a tank and 2 infantry boxes. pla could be 2 tanks and a box of pla troops, but woulndt make a great game.

Ok, we have four of us who are definately buying into it, and we're going to try it out at the FLGS on Wednesday evening at our games night.

I'm going for the USMC. Another player wants the European Federation, and the other two both want to go play the Middle Eastern Alliance. No love for the People's Liberation Army unfortunately.

Hey, I gotta stick with my Asians here.

If I can budget the game in, I'll buy two small armies. One EFTF and one PLA so I can demo them. There's only a few wargamers in my area, so having this game prepainted helps.

yup i plan on 1k of each then add pretty stuff i lake as a go along, the brits and pla are going 2k now as i plan on using them in touneys.

Well I just got almost as much again as I bought at Mongoose put by at Travelling Man.

I'll have 2 Challenger 2
4 EFTF Brit Infantry
1 Warrior and Command Unit

Blag me an SAS in a month or two and that's a 2k force right there.

That was kind of my thinking Matthew. 2k is about tournament size is it not :lol:

Can't wait to field SAS, would an all SAS force be feasible and then have them all lying in ambush :twisted: MWAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!

Probably not, but it's thoughs like that that keep me warm at night

The reason why I want EFTF is for the French Foreign Legion and their FAMAS rifles.

The german AT infantry sound interesting too.

The only problem is that I want the MEA too, but simply can't afford the MEA with the high cost of their basic infantry. So the idea is to buy one MEA box for each squad I want to field, and then fill in their number with cheaper unpainted metals.

I chose EFTF to field an all Brit force, to segue into an A:2089 esque British war of independence.
