Dear Friends,
Something I wish would come about would be a comprehensive conversion reference manual for MGT, all Traveller versions and as many of the major MPG systems around, which would convert abilities, combat systems, skills, feats, etc. into their MGT equivalents.
Of course there are some sites around which convert elements of some systems into some Traveller iterations in a piecemeal, but I'd like to see a comprehensive reference.
Among the systems I'd like to see in such a work would include: Gurps 4E and 3E, Hero, Star Wars WOTC Saga, D20 / T20 / OGL, Cortex, D6, Rifts, and FASA Trek.
Such a manual would save much time and effort in converting sourcebooks of other currently unavailable milieux into MGT, particualry Battlestar Galactica (Cortex), Serenity (Cortex), Star Wars (WEG/WOTC), Starship Troopers (OGL), Alien-Predator-Terminator (d20 Fan), Ogre - Lensman (Gurps), Macross (Rifts), Prime Directive (Gurps / D20), Star Trek (FASA).
This manual would have conversion tables and formulae galore, the bulkiest part would be a compendium of skills and their equivalents.
As this would pose a potential legal nightmare for Mongoose Publishing proper, this idea would be more realistically pursued as a fan project. Perhaps we could call it the MGT Universal Translator or the MGT Rosetta Stone (or even MGT BabelFish ?).
