MGP forum's first Monthly Painting Challenge! [VOWS LOCKED]

CheesyRobMan

Mongoose
Hello and welcome to the very first monthly Mongoose Publishing Forum Painting Challenge. The aim is simply to encourage people to get painting, especially if you've got a load of miniatures lying around (or still in boxes) unpainted. It's open to all and the rules are really simple:

1. You have 10 days to make vows. Anything you want to change before then is fine. All vows lock after 10 days.

2. Please post work-in-progress pictures if you can, it's always good to see things come together and see how other people do things.

3. If you want to include some "maybe" items in your vow, this is fine, but please mark them as such.

I'll list vows here as they're made, and once the challenge is over I'll gather people's finished pictures (such as we have) into a gallery post at the end.

Q&A:

Q: Do I have to paint Mongoose miniatures?
A: No, you can paint anything you like, be it Mongoose, GW, Rackham, PP, etc. or any combination.

Q: What if I don't have a camera?
A: If you say you completed on time, we will believe you. If you're lying, you officially suck.

Q: Can I vow models that I've started painting already?
A: Yes, although it's a bit cheesy to vow something that's 90% done already.

Q: When is the closing date?
A: End of the month. Vows lock on the 11th.

Q: Can I vow miniatures I haven't actually got yet?
A: Yes, but this is risky, especially if you're mail-ordering them. It's probably wiser not to vow miniatures you haven't actually acquired.

Q: Are there any prizes?
A: Those who complete their vows on time will be named and praised. Those who don't will be named and shamed. There may be honourable mentions for particularly well-painted models, but this is not so much a competition as an encouragement to paint.

If you've got any other questions, feel free to ask them here.

Let's get going!

I vow to finish modeling and painting 13 Kasrkin, 38 Cadian Shock Troopers, a Heroic Senior Officer, a Junior Officer, and a Sentinel.

Given that I have perhaps two hours of free time on the weekdays, this will be tough.

EDIT: Yes, this is a whole army. And I'm /still/ waiting on some of the guys to come in.

Uff, 10 days is REALLY hard.
I'll try to do another Ice Bug in that time, hope it's getting finished in time.

You don't have to complete the painting in 10 days. That's just the time limit for making or altering your vow. The painting deadline is the end of the month - the 28th. You can relax a bit :D

Okay. by the end of the month; I'll paint three Wolfen Predators, Syriak the Intrepid and finish a Prowler.
(5, well 4 1/3, models, I'm a REALLY slow painter....)

My vow - early EA, two each Sagittarius and Oracle, one Artemis.

Let's be honest, that's not too taxing :D

My vows on minipainters.com was:

Paint all my commissions:
Cowboys,
Mexicans,
Panzerfauste dark elves.

All of which are done.

And to try and paint some of my own panzerfauste, Confrontation and Flintloque stuff.

Add another 12 Cadian Shock Troopers, a medic, and a standard bearer to my list. Four of them I'm waiting on the parts for.

Why so few models, guys? I'm sitting here with 57 models to paint in 23 days.

(And before you accuse me of being unemployed or having too much free time, I have next to zero free time because of part-time college, and two part-time jobs. Free time during the weekdays is usually spent sleeping.)

Vows updated. My War Walker's bottom half is assembled and has the basic blue on it, working on the other bits separately. If Photobucket wasn't dead right now I'd post a WIP pic...

There we go, Photobucket is back from the dead.

Rob_alderman - what are you actually vowing for this challenge?

Confrontation Mid-nor dwarves, just whatever I get around to.
As well as some flintloque minis, again, what I get around to.

Aaand... please take the Medic and Standard Bearer off my list. They're no longer available for some reason (Curse you, GW).

PICTURES! WAHAHA!
