Magic Armour, well made Armour and the Skill Penalty

Here is a quick question, if you enchant armour for extra APs, does it's skill penalty increase?

If you use magic such as temper metal (a ridiculously powerful rune spell! from Legendary) does this increase the skill penalty?

If you get well crafted armour (Companion) that adds APs does this increase the skill panalty.

It does seem a bit harsh, that if you take a penalty = to the APs but I assume it is for game balance (else everyone would be in plate). But should you really be penalised for having better made or magical armour.

My rules will be that the panalty will be equal to the Basic armour penalty, adn any increase in the APs is irrelevant.

Any one else had a problem with this.. (particulalry Temper Metal).

All in my opinion, of course.

No, it's magical and doesn't affect the underlying properties of the armour.

I can't remember what Temper Metal does and don't have my copy of Legendary heroes with me. Can you remind me?

No, because it is well crafted, it adds to the APs without increasing skill penalty.

Not at all, that's the whole point of well-crafted armour.

That seems fair enough. Arms and Equipment has more rules on bolting on armour, which does increase the Skill Penalty. That seems fair enough, as bolting on another layer of armour wil make the armour more cumbersome and unwieldy.

Metal and Infinity, each Mag adds +1 damage or +1AP permanently

utter balls, wich I suppose is why it is legendary.

But Yes I think just use the basic armour pens would be right.
cheers
