The Hood was ill protected against this kind of event. she was a battle cruiser not a battle ship. And it was not seem possible when she was build. An "instant death" need both a good amounth of firepower, and a vulnerability.

Well yes, but assuming the ship had been caught anyway, the damage done was largely crew casualties and damage to the superstructure. The hull was sound even after being torpedoed.
