I fear this publication more than any other... :(

"I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain."

Okay, okay, but I still won't buy it if it's just filled up with new so-called "legendary abilities", even more AD&D-ing the game.

Ye, this is the book I've been anticipating a LOT.
The Battle scale combat rules that the preview gives a hint of are just what I was hoping for higher level play. Examples of high level heroes (sorcery, divine magic etc.. ) would give a good idea on how the system is intended work in a high skill % and all around high-level surroundings.

With anticipation comes fear of course, considering the hazy start of MRQ on the front of proofreading and some rules.

Next thing I'm anticipating with fear (on a positive sense) is the rules errata and clarifications..

A quick Table of Contents to letcha know what you will be getting into.

Please be reminded that LH is a Runequest Line-core product, NOT a Glorantha product...so Glorantha Games Masters will get to choose to involve the extra stuff (Leg. Abilities, Leg. Runes, etc.) if they want to. I know a few of the old-schoolers are worried that LAs are making RQ too "AD&D"...I hope, in practice, you will find them to be as fun and enjoyable as we do. :)

Legendary Heroes: ToC
Introduction
Crossing into Legend
Mass Warfare
Legendary Abilities
Legendary Runes
Legendary Artefacts
Bestiary

Cheers all!

Does the book cover HeroQuesting per se? Is it completely setting generic or is there any Gloranthan specific information?

And as a follow up - are there plans for a Gloranthan specific book on hero-questing/hero level characters?

Heroquesting is a Gloranthanism; so it was not covered in LH. LH is aimed more at the general RuneQuest line. But most of the info in the book would be a big help for those going on Heroquests.

But then again, that is just my opinion. Others might not want to have such powerful abilities, spells and alternate runes at their Gloranthan heroes' fingertips. *obvious tease*

That's a question for someone higher on the Mongoose food chain than myself. ;)

It is an interesting idea, isn't it? :)

We'll have to see how this book is received, I think, before making any solid decisions. We would also want to consult with other Issaries licencees in order to avoid treading on their toes in this area.

So no full rules for how Divine Magic works for Rune Lords/Rune Priests then? Pity...

I expect that would be in Cults of Glorantha Book One if it is coming.

I posted a houserule on Tim's Wiki I plan on using unless Mongoose releases something better. See the sticky on the Wiki up top (it's a Wicki Sticki!).

(I call it Tim's Wiki just to needle Tim - no correction necessary).

Personally, I would welcome abilities and rules that make people stand out more and help promote more heroic play.

Too many farmers, not enough barbarians standing on a pile of skulls, in my opinion.

Well, given the number of battles occuring in Dragon Pass, I would expect farmers standing on skull piles.

Has anyone seen this in the UK stores yet?
If it really is out this week, rather than delivered from the printers to a warehouse in the US, it should hit the shops (checks watch) today - Wed 18th. The Games Shps are expecting it this week, but then they were expecting to get Glorantha and Monsters earlier than last week as well....

True enough, what people don't realise is that the farmers are the barbarians.

Barbarian-ing of the pneumatic muscles variety doesn't put many beans on the table.
