i cant see the british using the cougor for a start it wont fit in most uk bays let along lanes around the uk.

there is more chance of us using a refit hwwmv as there going dirt cheap at the mo, several thousand have already been burried in holes around the uk by americans, all we need to do is dig them up.

Its a well known fact that the only replacement for a Land Rover is another Land Rover :)

The Cougar looks tough enough to make the street fit the vehicle if necessary :D

I doubt the British will adopt the HMMWV. The Land Rover is superior as a light truck, and neither vehicle is really geared well for patrol. Keep the LR for basic utility and rear-echelon mobility, and buy something like the Cougar for patrol duties.

we already use the cougar. it wil fit on streets, a saracen does, its just more awkward.

as far as i know we have the 4 wheeled version, without the under floor armour. its failed some tests and wont be replaced oe exspanded on much more than the original contract.

one got stuck down a lane inbetween 2 trees !!!

id opt for the panther at the moment, evan with finance talks going a bit pear shaped.

at last found a link as well lol, my spelling being the biggest hinderance with me and search engines lol

The vehicles are being built during the period 2006 to 2009 and will replace a range of vehicles which are reaching the end of their operational lives, for example the Land Rover, Saxon, FV432 and a number of Combat Vehicle (Reconnaissance) Tracked. The vehicles will also enter service with the Royal Air Force Regiment.

Seven pre-series vehicles are undergoing performance trials, to be followed by formal user and reliability qualification trials in 2006. The first batch of 50 vehicles is to be delivered in January 2007 for an in-service date later that year.

another good site for looking at british bits and bobs is this

lol mr evil, look at my 3rd link :) thats the same vehicle.
as for the cougar, the british army is going to try the 6 wheeled one but changed for better protection - calling it the mastiff.
i have seen some cougars up close, and on the road coming towards me, they look mean :)
