Kit Bash Ideas

So then, following the realease of the command omega, and Tantalus assault carrier, Matt said people could subnmit ideas for others. Now then, From my own experiance, most ships are one piece, but the odd one or two could offer opportuinities.
This should be a good time to share some ideas, and see what we can come up with .

We have seen reavermans excelent Narn Outpost, so looking at the components, Mongoose could probably release a model of this pretty quickly, or alternatively, we buy our own bits.

Anyway, onto business.

Narn frieghter. T'Loth Central hull section, with the sides of any of the EA freighters? pretty simple Idea to kick us off eh?

Nice idea...in the same vein, how about a Troligan hull with Torothas attached to the side pylons? Could be a Torotha dreadnought or assault variant.

I am not much of a modeller but like the idea Hiff, would be great to see what people can come up..especially interested to seei if anyone can come up with some cool Narn and league stuff

I like the Narn T'loth - parts base idea.

Vree Xarrs (?) with single gun turrets above and below (fast scout variant) or twin turrets above and below (gunship version). Or, given the example of the Z'Takk, any arrangement of 'stacked' saucers.

Centauri Octurion assembled without the middle section as a Penturion class battlecruiser.

EA Ulysses class strike cruiser. Omega forward axehead attached to a Poseidon spin hab (with axle) and engine module. Fewer damage and crew points than a standard Omega, but faster and with 2/45 turns.
Would require one of the '+' shaped locating plugs to be filed off the axle.

EA Nova assault carrier. A Nova with most of the LPA turrets replaced with small Olympus-type weapons. Ship replaces three of her fighter flights with assault shuttles and breaching pods, loses most of her LPAs, gains Partcle Beams (range 5", Weak, Anti-Fighter) turret arc and Shuttles 3, Troops 10. Raid PL, IS 2255, available in 3rd Age and Crusade eras.

Shadow patrol cutter. Shadow scout model with only two tendrils on each of its upper and lower surfaces. Gives the Shadows a Skirmish PL unit that's also an order of magnitude easier to assemble than the scout itself.

How about a Warlock with a Marathon Top stuck on it and some shadow tentacles glued on. Oh wait thats the Nemesis

Ohh just thought of a good one: Two Xills stuck on top of one another, old style Cylon basestar (or Tzakk command saucer... (though this way would look almost identical to the actual Cylon ship )

Seriously though, non EA kitbashes arent the easiest things to be honest would like to see a good one for the raidernova though, should be that hard to just bolt 2 Novas together (or to carry on the BSG theme you could bolt one either side of a Warlock to make battlestar )

With all of the kitbashing going on this would be a good time to (re)post these pics. These aren't my projects but rather downloaded from someone's site and posted here with their permission. Wars was their game back in the day. Sadly the site these came from is no longer running but here they are for your reference. Some are better than others (much better in some cases) but I applaud the effort—and money!—put into them.

I hate to say this... but all EA ships look the same. I can't tell the difference.

I especially like the second Narn ship posted.

I'd pay good money for that.

Oh and that vertical frontal wedge-y thingy on it just screams: "Huge-Ass-Mega-Beam-Cannon-Boresight-of-Doom!!!!!!"

Now, on the subject of these 'submissions'

Do we just give ideas for them, or are we allowed to actually make them and stuff and send them off to Mongoose for evaluation? Oh... and do we get royalties?(worth a try :twisted: )

Again this is just an EA ship, but it is my re-imagining of the Marathon. Well when I say re-imagining I mean I cut some bits off and stuck some other bits on. I even used bits of platic sprue...

I was trying to make it look similar to the Chronos... Maybe the same contractor got the gig this time?

Interesting take on the Marathon. I like what you've done with it, but always thought the curved/drooping hull seemed out of character for the EA.

Here are some good looking gun and missile turret options for future kitbash projects. I can see missile turrets added to a Saggitarious or something for added detail. On the large side though at 10mm and up in diameter...

Like the Narn ships - nice to see someone go to the effort of kit bashing some alternatives for non EA. The T'Loth looks like it could be a battle level command variant of the T'Loth or a heavy assault version with IOn torps and a decent beam. The Hyperion kit bash looks quite reasonable to, a decent bruiser hyperion that can take a real pounding before giving up.

I like the two Narn ones, especially the second one and I acually quite like the first of the hyperion conversions, would make a good command hyp model (not that I can ever imagine using one )

(this one I mean, still looks mostly like a hyp just with a few subtle upgrades not a giant chunk of hull in the middle )

My "salvaged" Raider Nova & Battlewagon

The gravity projector was a little deformed so I took the dremel to it. I put the tethers on it so you realize that it doesn't spin anymore.

Drilled a hole strait through, representing a heavy beam hit, Vorlons maybe?

My converted Battlewagon. 1/2 a GW Drum (to bulk it out a bit), 2 Nova turrets & from BFG: some small Imperial turrets, an Imperial bridge & a nova cannon.

The engine was deformed so again out came the dremel.

I'm also working on 4 different versions of the strike cruiser. Mix it up a bit.

I don't like the Shadow Hunter (the design, not the mongoose model nothing MP could do about that) so I made my own:

It's made with the lower bit of the Shadow Ship (Ref: 1133670101) and two Long Tendrils (Ref: 1133670302) from a Shadow Scout. If Mongoose wants to make a new Shadow Ship (for say Skirmish or Raid) feel free to use this one! Slap a few bits together, shave down the nub on the top and make a mold out of it. 8)

I don't have a finished pic of it but it looks really good when painted! :twisted:

I was pondering doing that for my hunters. There seems to be quiate a bit one can do with scout tendrils and shadow ship sections...
