note, I cut and pasted a lot of information when I made the page for KOTJ4 and its incorrect to say that its not the same hotel as last year; ConQuest Sac has changed location but KublaCon has not.

KOTJ 3 and 4 will be largely the same type of event.

a 3 round, variable PL tourney (skirmish, raid, and battle), the ships for which are drawn from a pre-submitted 11-point raid fleet list. This year, ships which survive a battle earn XP which can be spent between rounds on CQ upgrades, or refits/extra duties. some results may not apply (dealing with RR for example) and may be re-rolled.

There will be trivia, and a painting contest - prizes provided by Mongoose Publishing!

Got Lowly's fleet roster this evening...still waiting to hear from the KOTJ3 entrants to see if they'll confirm for KOTJ4. Hope your car got fixed ok Darzoni! And evein if it didn't you can take the BART to the airport and a shuttle to the hotel...not that I've researched alternate transport at these gas prices...!

You betcha. Got to SF yesterday. Pigged out in Chinatown today, man I love that place. 8) I'm trying to talk my wife into moving to the bay area.

I'd like to thank everyone who showed up at Kublacon this year for the King of the Jumpgate III!

we had 5 players; the 4 pre-signups and one walk-in so I played as a non-scoring 6th person. There were 1 Shadow Fleet, 2 Narn Fleets, 2 EA fleets (1 mine), and 1 Minbari Fleet.

With the exception of Claude (who I demo'd to last year), all the players were folk's I'd never met so it was great to see new faces and see some of the Forum's Finest in the flesh. Alex Fennel from Mongoose popped in to say hi during the tournament, he was busy with their booth during most of Kublacon, so it was great to be able to talk to one of the 'company men' :lol: again. I think the tournement went well; everybody seemed to have a great time and generally enjoy themselves. I'm hoping that those who traveled far to come this year will be around again next May for King of the Jumpgate IV next Kublacon. I've had around 12-14 people at the 3 different tournaments I've run so far so if everybody got together at one event it would truly be a whopping big event, and really get some attention for the game - with 2nd edition around the corner, I'm really excited about next year.

I'm thinking of running a 4 round tourney next time if there's enough players. It means a longer event, but it would allow me to have a "bye" round if there's an odd number of players. What I'd do is only score your 3 highest games. Taking a queue from mongoose, I want to have a bigger scenario. Take the KOTJ standard 11 raid fleet, and add in 1 War PL ship. The 4th scenario would be an assassins scenario, with the war PL ship being the target. That scenario would probably be a 3 war point fleet, including the target of the assasination.

OK, now its time for feedback. What do you players think of this years tournamant? Criticism? Suggestions? Did you like the addition of XP/refits/CQ advancements? one scenario better than others? let's hear it so next year can be even better.
