Judge Death

I know that Heroclix and Foundry Miniatures produce a Judge Death miniature.

Has anyone thought on how to use Judge Death in a GOMC1 game?

What would his stats be?

I think we had a topic on this before, it would be really hard to use any of the dark judges just because of how hard they are. Simplest thing to do is to get 2 gangs, together to fight the 4 Dark judges. Get a GM as well, so you will need 4 players. The GM should decide when there are chances to kill certain judges. Shooting up death wouldnt do very much. Just read through the comics and think intelligently when it comes to figuring out rules.

I'd agree with that, no set of rules could represent their capabilities.... be like trying to replicate Superman.
Face it, the dark judges have come close to destroying entire civilisations, so your average gang will do nothing.

A gang attempting to summon the Dark Judges might be cool though. Maybe with some DJ-inspired abilities.

Yes Gang vs JDeath would be suicide.

Perhaps Death could be controling some animated corpses or cult members that the gang could fight. The Gangs objective would be a fighting retreat across the board. Death would not engage the gang (unless someone was dumb enough to after him), he'd just hang back and activate his forces.

Just a thought.

I made up some GoMC1 stats for the Heroclix batman figure. I loved the Judge Dredd vs Batman comics so much I wanted to make them fight it out. I posted them here somewhere, I think there was a custom rule thread.

anywho, we do have beta rules for the dark judges, and I am still tweaking their stats. It essentially works like this:

Whenever the Judges are called there is a very slight chance that a Dark Judge will arrive instead. This is determined by doing two things.

1. Roll a D6, if a 2-6 is rolled no Dark Judge appears. If a 1 is rolled go to step two.

2. Roll percentile dice (2d10) on a 2-100 no Dark Judge appears, continue the game normally. On a 1 a single Dark Judge appears, roll 1d4 to determine which appears (Or let the Judge player choose)

To make things even more interesting we used to have the Judges en route to the gang battle their way across the table the Dark Judge was on. After the fight either what was left of the Judge force or the Dark Judge (if he won) would appear at the gang. This was fun but dropped because it was time consuming and it unbalanced the game if any judges did survive and ended up fighting a fresh gang.

IF anyone is interested I can post the Judge stats here or in the custom thread, wherever appropriate.

I've used the Dark judges in a campaign. Just one Dark judge at a time and the gangs had various objectives. I had Mortis running wild in a hospital and the gangs had to rescue as many survivers as they could. If some one was able to kill a the Dark Judge there was a random number of turns until he returned to his starting place. It was really cool to play.

Sounds like a fun scenario but why were the gangs saving people?

The story was that the gangs had convinced the hospital to pay for each survivor. We were going to play the scenario as the gangs trying to grab as much medical supplies as they could, then at the end of the game they gained the equipment they nicked, but we all just really wanted to the hospital level on Dredd VS Death computer game.

Not all gangs are 'evil'
some of them just want to make a living and have fun, think of them as a futuristic 'freedom fighter' force.

I suppose it depends on your definition of evil. Killing other gang members in the way of fun isn't exactly all good to me. Then again, everyone has a lot of gray area in them.

My gang would have done the same thing in that situation.

Of course, they are organ leggers.....

It may not be killing out of fun, but out of a twisted sense of patriotism to their block. The other gang vandalised the block and are told to vacate immediately, and instead they respond with gunshots. It all depends on how you spin things. And it is a game after all. :D

Absolutely, but part of the fun for me is these kinds of conversations and storyline within the game.

And again, as I said, some people perceive evil in different ways.

Killing out of blind patriotism just happens to fit the bill for me. :P Of course I never said it wasn't fun.

For me as well. It is a lot more interesting to have some kind of a story line running through the whole thing rather than just line 'em up and shot 'em down.

Yeah, I find that games based on certain scenarios that are 'different' and every one is different fun. Thats why I like historo-fantasy games like Panzerfauste or Flintloque, with the extra player GM he can really turn tables and make it exciting, for example, the panzefauste scenario 'Bad Seed'.

GW did the scenario based game thing with thier Lord of the Rings game. I found it alot of fun, and I wanted to collect the miniatures for each of the specified scenarios.

Basing some GOMC1 scenarios within the different Judge Dredd storylines (ie Block Mania, Apocalypse War, Judgement day) and including some of the more notable characters would take the game to a whole new level.

And also increase sales and, I would guess, bring in a lot more revenue than the large vehicles idea.

They (Mongoose) also makes a Judge Dredd RPG, right? If they made some of the more notable figures it might cross games and be bought up by the RPG'ers as well.

Well, they did make the RPG. I just took a look at the Judge Dredd and it lists all of the sourcebooks and adventures, plus GoMC-1, but no core rule book for the RPG. I have to be honest; I thought that I had heard that the whole RPG line was going OOP, but don't quote me on that.
