[JDMG]Effective way of making a Zombie Horde?

Hello everyone, I'm new to JDMG and am planning on assembling a Zombie Horde but am unsure how to go about it. As the Zombie Mistress is the focal point of the Force it's important to keep her alive, but she is really fragile (only 1 Hit and 100 worth of equipment). I tried giving her an Energy Shield in a test game I had with a friend, but having nothing else really hampers her ability to affect the game (Though I'd feel dirty to buy an actual armour without having any on the model, but it'd ruin the model...). Anyone know of a good way to equip the Zombie Mistress at the start to make her survivable AND useful? This includes talents, I went with the two Ectoplasmic powers, but the second one cost so much that it was hard to make proper use out of.

As for Zombies. Should I buy as many as I can, or should I hold off on some to get a Mutant or other Mercenary, at least early on? I found one of the hardest thing to do with Zombies was successfully ganging up on a stronger opponent as if he won he'd just push the zombie away(If he didn't destroy it), rinse and repeat. I'll gladly accept any general advice to running a Zombie Horde as well!

And a small rules question, can you choose to "fall" voluntarily by walking off a ledge? We have a lot of terrain with floors under the 4" mark, making it a good strategy for getting around obstacles.

See block war (page 6 of the file) for more zombie details but - she's actually got 3 hits.

To a certain extent you can just go the best armour you can get (energy field plus something else) but the opponent WILL throw everything at her.

The Zombie Mistress still only had 1 Hit when I made this topic, and with only 100 credits to buy equipment with an Energy Shield is not a very good option (as without any ranged pressure at all you'll be picked apart).

I've played a bunch of games with the Zombie Horde now and tend to run my Mistress with Sports Armour, Spit Pistol and a Katana(Originally a Las Knife, but changed it) and Danger Sense + Foresight (and aiming for Ectoplasmic Shield once I got a level. I had a lot of bad luck with getting EXP/a crippling injury on level 1-2 or simply dying with my mistress :P) and always having her in cover or out of sight unless absolutely necessary. However I've noticed that if your opponent gets lucky then they'll completely farm exp from a Zombie Horde... (Armoured or not).

I feel the Horde needs something more :/

Oh, I don't think we are done with the Zombie Horde just yet - you will have to wait a little while, but I would be surprised if we did not do some variant zombies and/or other types of undead down the road...

Sounds great! (An idea I had but didn't really expand on was a talent tree (with level restrictions) for the Zombie Mistress, something like "at fifth level you can add # of [special zombies] to the force", but if it's just straight out more selection then that's just fine by me ;D (I found getting xp for the zombie mistress can be difficult as she's a prime target, so you don't want to poke your head out too much)

Bringing this thread back from the dead....

I tried out a zombie force today.

I learned that ganging up is really tricky - and zombies need it.

The Zombie Mistress doesn't really do much. Resurrecting downed zombies is pretty much a futile endeavour - it is far better to stay in cover. She isn't good enough at surviving to follow the zombies in. She isn't good at anything particularly.

To get Zombies into combat against anyone who wants to keep backing off will be difficult.
