My guess is that someone saw the same 5 people getting nowhere, but also getting annoyed.

When the level of debate deteriorates into headgrinding and things like "You're wrong. Bye! " then the mods of most sites would start to frown on things, I imagine.

We're lucky this isn't RPGnet. I can name 3 people who'd have been banned for being 'deliberately obtuse' there. But that, too, is censorship. Depends which you prefer, I guess.

I posted as late as last night. My post was pretty passionate, but I didn't insult anybody (or I didn't mean to). I didn't see anything that nasty. Maybe I missed something this morning. I got no warning pm's so I assume it was nothing I said.

I for one prefer warnings and bannings and locked threads (and edited posts if absolutely necessary) to deleting whole threads.

Many pages of good discourse have been nuked on this board because someone crossed some line (which is still not clear to me).

I know it is Mongooses boards to police as they want but thats my two bolgs worth.

I noticed the thread disappear also and I think my post was the last I saw. There was certainly nothing to warrant deletion AFAIK - unless some mystery blast came in that never made it into the light of day.

Big shame - besides being quite fun, there was some decent discussion in that thread.

I'd certainly vote for thread locking rather than outright deletion. Or at least a verbal warning along the lines of "calm down everyone". At this rate it gets a little demoralising, wondering if your contributions aren't just going to get nixed for some unfathomable reason somewhere down the line (not that I'm anything more than an infrequent flyer - but it must be irritating for those who post much more often).

Caveat: not sure if I've said anything contentious above. Apologies if this post gets this thread deleted. :?

Thread deletion is very harsh, on most boards locking and post deletion seems enough, or at the very worst banning.

The last thread was deleted on the day they released 'Paranoia, Little Red Book' which amused me no end. China, Google, heavy hand of the state and all that. :lol:

I certainly would appreciate a different tactic. Locking threads is one thing, and deleting posts, but vanishing threads is nasty.

It leaves a pretty bad taste in the mouth for us who write on the forum.
