Introductory Adventure

I was wondering, is there some type of pre-made Adventure for the starting Legend GM and players?

Not that its difficult to create stuff for the system, but it just feels nice to begin with something specifically made.

Cheers!

I think this is what Spider God's Bride was supposed to be. Until it gets fixed the closest thing would be Pavis Rising, Blood of Orlanth, Dara Happa Stirs - all(?) of which can be found on Drivethru when it's back up, I think for $1 each. They are campaigns and not single adventures and they are all firmly set in second age Glorantha, so may not be what you're looking for.

A bit more distant, ie. need some conversion work but not much, are the Gloranthan classics from Moon Design - the one I would go for first would be Griffin Mountain

which although it's set in Glorantha could be pretty easily adapted to another setting. It's a sandbox wilderness campaign.

There's "Beneath an Opal Moon" free introductory adventure for Samurai of Legend campaign setting (you can find it from Drivethru). Besides that Sign & Portents has adventures for different MRQII settings, which work with current version of rules without any converting. http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/signsnportentsarchive

"The Spider God's Bride" adventure book should be out relatively soon (It has 10 adventures set into it's own Sword and Sorcery world). Also I believe that Cities of Legend - Skarr: City of Orcs has some adventure seeds (I'm not 100% certain, because I don't have that book.)

Then there's few books to Legend's Elric of Melniboné campaign setting: "The Cities of Young Kingdom: The South" and "Secrets of the Steppes" have both descriptions of locations and adventures in those places. And third book "Talons of Winter" is coming later this spring.

Note that none of the suggestions are actually starting adventures for a new Legend GM.

Depending upon your experience they can be adapted to Legend.

If you have experience with other BRP D100 games that will be a help.

Some of the things you would need to do if this is to be more than a one-off game is to either use the Glorantha setting of Blood of Orlanth etc., the Elric setting or download some of the old Signs and Portents magazines from MGP. A list of relevant material is stickied to the top of this thread.

The reasoning for using one of these settings is that the cults have been already set up and the pantheon of deities established and things like Combat Styles determined, all of which you'd need to do before running a campaign with Legend rather than a test style one-off game.

One of the easiest things to do to try out Legend's game system is to run the players through an old low level D&D/AD&D module. You'll need the Monsters of Legend book to replace the D&D monsters with but the plot should play out fine for a test it out game to get used to the system.

Spider God's Bride (fixed) has cults set up as per Legend core, with additional abilities and Combat Styles worked in.

There is a collection of Basic Roleplaying adventure modules for sale at Chaosium, however, the name escapes me at the moment. Mixed genre of games but I think 3 are fantasy. Also RuneQuest's Caravans came out not long ago as a preview for Book of Quests and it is free.

I think this is what Matt was hinting at in the State of the Mongoose. There's no budget for an adventure along the lines of Secrets of The Ancients or Pirates of Drinax, but they'd dearly loive to see someone come up with one.

However, as regards coming up with an official Mongoose Legend adventure ... Not yet, it would seem.

However, I have written The Blood Path, and it is currently in layout and awaiting final proofing. DamonJynx is busy putting together the various maps and illustrations, and next month - hopefully - I'll be making my decisions on how, and where, to release it into the wild.

I've also got plans for further adventures for Legend - the next is called The House on Five Roads Corner - so I'm sure there'll be something cool and fun for everyone.

And who knows - perhaps Matt might even pick up on one of my ideas and together we can turn that into an official Mongoose Legend adventure. I'm not particularly inclined to suddenly pull out and migrate to RQ6 without so much as a by-your-leave any day soon.

And I don't want Legend to go the way of the likes of Ringworld and Superworld, BRP products cancelled due to a lack of support and woeful followup marketing (and being hideously overpriced).

The text portions are done for Alex's, The Blood Path. I'm working on the maps for one of the key locations as we speak. Hopefully I should have them done in the next week or so.

The Blood Path looked cool from the preview I read, so I would definitely buy it.

I remember when I first decided to switch to MRQ2 and then Legend, from Pathfinder, and how I struggled to understand the relationships between BRP, RQ and Legend initially and the fact that there was no Legend adventure material, was quite intimidating.

It would be a huge advantage to have an "off the shelf" module or Adventure Path that provided tips for the beginner Legend GM.

Although its RQ6 rather than Legend, we have three, free, introductory adventures available on the Design Mechanism website. If you download the Games Masters Pack, you'll find two in there; and you'll find a third called 'Caravan'.

All are highly compatible with Legend.
