Infantry Tank-Killers?

Our FLGS got BF:Evo in today and one thing has popped up. If any entire squad of men open fires on a tank, theres a huge chance that the tank will be destroyed outright. Surely this isn't right? It should take a lot more than that to destroy a tank.

Will the Advanced rules cover this?
 
Maybe but thats the point. A squad of four marines with M16's shouldn't be able to take out a tank.

max D6 score is a 6 while you need a 8+ to hit tank and a11+ - 13+ to kill a tank

As we read the rules, a squad of 4 marines open fire on a tank, with no other enemy units in range. First/Highest dice is assigned to the tank. The other dice are then distrubuted as the player see's fit, hence all on the tank.

Thats how the base rules read.

yes but the hightest you roll is a 6 so doese no damage to the tank, evan if you roll and hit a tank with 2 billion d6 all rolling a 6 it has no effect on the tank.

Actually, you can only assign dice as you see fit once every model in the Fire Zone has been allocated a dice:

The highest scoring Damage Dice must be allocated to the nearest model within the Fire Zone, the next highest scoring Damage Dice to the next nearest model, and so on. If all models within the Fire Zone have been allocated a Damage Dice, then you are free to allocate any remaining Damage Dice to models as you see fit.

You'll only be able to hurt tanks with D6+2 or D10 weapons.

If you put your tank in cover it'll get the cover bonus making it even harder to kill.

Yes, which is why I said with no other units within range. I should have said fire zone but was part way through a game.
 
Now if the INF was say a MEA squad they can hurt a tank, with good rolls,

It will be fun to watch tatics develop as the new waves arrive.
