LOL, another one for the errata
Rich Bax statted this one. Here's what he wrote.
Unryu Class Carrier
Ships of this class: Unryu, Amagi, Katsuragi, Kasagi, Aso, Ikoma
Essentially a repeat of the Hiryu class, the Unryu class of carriers would be the final class of fast fleet carriers built by the Japanese navy. Interestingly, their intended role was not that of fleet action, but to strike at US convoys in conjunction with a large heavy cruiser screening force. Lightly built and intended for mass production, the class relied on cruiser or destroyer machinery to speed production.
Only Unryu, Amagi, and Katsuragi were completed and none were ever deployed operationally due to the shortage of fuel, trained pilots and aircraft. Unryu was sunk by submarine torpedoes delivering Ohka suicide rocket planes to Manila. Amagi was sunk by American naval aircraft at Kure, never having left Japanese territorial waters. Only Katsuragi survived the war though was heavily damaged in the same raids that sank the Amagi.
