Idea for initiative

Target

Mongoose
Bigger fleets should be harder to command so how bout
-1initiative for every ship you have or something similar.

The squadron idea is good, the first ship or squadron wouldn't be at negative & command will help a lot more.
The theory is if some takes a swarm of little ships vs a few big ships basically the swarm is going to lose intiative nearly all the time.
Drazi shouldn't be to badly off as they do have junphawks.

IMHO It would work if the racialI niaitive bonus and the availability of Command ships was was already the same

At present this means against say a Abbai/pak player with my Centauri /Minbairi /Vorlons/Shadows I increase my superiority of iniative - which I don't think is a good idea?

Not sure what you are meaning? Sorry, probably me, i'll try to explain better

This is one way it could work
5 pt raid fleet
EA 3rd Age +1
Command Omega +3 (no minus for first ship/squadron free)
1 Olympus -1
1 Olympus -1
Total +2

Centauri +3
Balvarian +1 (no minus for first ship/squadron free)
2 Vorchans Squadroned -1
2 Vorchans Squadroned -1
1 Corvan -1
2 Kutai Squadroned -1
Total = int 0

Abbai -1???
Juyaca +1
Milani -1
Milani -1
Total =-2
Of course this is silly fleet unless there redundancy & Kotha's are better

Vree +0
5 squadrons of Xaar (3 per group) -4 ( includes 1 free squadron)
Total -4
Theory is it forces squadrons & use on int sinks hopefully will be less as 15 xaars could be -14 int. The enemy would always fire first & your fighters would be dominant not that my example it would matter.

Could even have a rule that if you more than 5 int worse than your opponent you have to move 1 more ship/squadron per point worse.
eg The vree with-14 would move 9 ships before the Centauri fleet moves a ship/squadron, 7 before the abbai moves & 11 ships for the EA.
A little chart would be helpful to speed things up & breaking squadrons would slow it downa little but the benefits out weigh the minute it take to calculate.
Theory, big ships could select targets far better than before. Add redundancy & it would be a pretty good system.

Hope it's not too confusing, but im not the best explaining things in the written form.
