I have now recognized the problem.

I'm in agreement with Locutus in that the only issue I have with Mongoose on this is the way that it was such a battle to get out of anyone what the actual problem was.
Whilst copyright itself is screwed up, that's an issue with the big corporations (such as Disney) abusing copyright and the politicians getting "lobbied" (read: paid off) to change the laws to allow society to get ripped off in such a way. All mongoose can do is keep the appearance at least of trying to uphold the licence otherwise the company would be squashed without the lawyers even blinking.

Coud MGP give some one else a License? If yes that woud clear the grey zone total. And every one is happy.

As far as my (admittedly limited) understanding of copyright law goes, basically no since mongoose dont actually own the licence they cannot grant it to someone else only the actual OWNER of the licence can do that (in this case Warner Brothers). I believe they could, if they made ACTA a generic spaceflight game and B5 one version of it they could allow ships to be licencec to the Call to Arms game system but frankly I suspect if they tried to wiggle their way through anything like that WB would probably just threated to pull the licence alltogether.

Copyright law is a veritable minefield of interconnected clauses and loopholes the likes of which is somewhat akin to trying to navigate blindly in hyperspace without a beacon lock (to use an appropriately B5ey annalogy!) so frankly the best course of action for anyone is generally to stay as far clear of it as possible and if in any doubt to play it safe. It may be silly and overly draconian but its the law and whilst its all to easy to just ignore what you consider a trivial silly law as a private citizen with no really fear of actually getting brought up on it, as a larger organisation like a publishing house that particular Homeresque 'If I don't see it it's not illegal' attitude is simply not a luxury they can afford.

I have no particular quarrel with you JayRider but I can't help but consider your increasingly indignant attitude over this somwhat childish, so go ahead and keep insulting Mongoose on their own forums if you like but you'll only end up getting banned :(

WB has the final say with liscences, doubt MGP can subcontract in such a way.

i cant argue with MGP protecting their game franchise, that`s business.

but their ham-fisted attempts at forum moderation are totally laughable... ostracising players and generally making problems worse.

This forum and company are getting worse and worse.
For shame!

Cant's say much about the company, but as for the forum... isn't it up the members to make it a better place? (Yeah, admin and mods are members too! )

Back on topic:
Urobach... Fingers crossed man :D

Yeah, and if anyone asks in your thread about buying them, say NO, that is against the rules.

(But its not against the rules to PM someone)

Yep...that is exactly that what i have planed.
My entire statement sounds like I am an coward, but i am not stupid, so.
when MGP laywers or in the worst and badest case WB laywers knock on my door....then means this, goodby wounderful life. no....

And i think now the Moderators have safed me "indirectly" with the delete of the theads.

An fazit for the finish: How sayed often enough...I show pics in the future from my fan-made ships, but nothing more....no commerce, no infos about sell, no web-links to other resources etc....on this forum.
Only Infos about the ship by itself...building , materials etc.

As for subcontracting the license, it all depends on the terms of the license agreement between MGP and WB. Since, as I understand it, they can't pay anyone else to produce the minis, then I'd say, no. No subcontracting.

Urobach, it's not cowardice, it's legality. Unless you're a hardcore open-source kinda guy. Then it's a matter of standing up for your principles. But then, if you want to sell your products anyway, then you can't be in favour of open-source, either because you'd be violating your own principles by selling your products...
And as for the language thing, no biggie. You have an excuse and are still easier to understand than one of the regular posters at another gaming forum I go to...

The open-sourcers are mostly software developers who get upset when people try to protect the code they write by whatever means so that no one else can piggy-back off of their hard work without paying for it.

Linux is Open-Source, Microsoft and Apple are not.
Firefox is Open-Source. Internet Explorer is not.
But the principle can be applied to any product of a person's labour.

Open-source, when boiled down to its core is just communism: From each, his abilities, to each, his needs...

(Not that I am averse to taking advantage of some idiot who wants to give me a good product for free (Firefox). He's just not going to get anything from me because I expect to profit from my work)
