Hyborian Adventures announced

Masterporg

Mongoose
Hyborian Adventures (Runequest) has just been added to the list of upconing products for may :D Can anyone at Mongoose confirm that this is correct and not a mistake?

I just hope it isn't just another hoax (who said Shadow of the Sorceror?).
Please Mongoose people, just do it...

Nothing eh? Could Vincent Darlage or someone at Mongoose at least let us know if there will be a D20 to MRQ conversion guide in the book or made available as a PDF?

I have also heard rumors that the Conan RPG (d20) line may be cancelled. I am hoping that it is just that, a rumor and no more!

Anyone "in the know" know for sure?

Where did you hear this rumor? In Shadizar?
They have a 4 years licence and prepare a 2nd edition, (or perhaps should we say the 3rd?), the bestiary for summer and a regional sourcebook on Cimmeria after that + small scenarios + one campaign per year from 2008 on (I hope late 2007).

King,

Close, not in Shadizar, but in an equally vile den of thieves, a.k.a. some of the fellows I game with. Two of them were telling me they heard about it from someone (but the name had escaped them at the moment). No hard facts, just second hand rumors.

I am very glad to hear that the line is going strong. :D

All hail Conan!

The thought that Conan was going to be shelved seems to have come from the Conan/Runequest conversion thread and the impending Long Cold Wait until 2nd edition materials come out.

Would seem like a waste to cancel the d20 line (which many of us have invested in heavily) and convert to Runequest. I think Matt Sprange has said that there will be conversion material, but d20 won't end.

Granted, the fact that Argos/Zingara and Shem (and even Stygia IIRC) seems to have had so much material and so many maps cut out, was not encouraging in terms of Mongooses support of the line.

If they DO end the line, I'm hoping Vincent Darlage revises his personal website and continues to post d20 Conan material there! :)

I recently bought Shem (don't have Argos/Zingara yet) and excepted missing maps I can't see what is lacking.

In fact, it seems the new edition will imply some changes, even if minor ones (as errata for previous books will be available online afterwards). This is certainly the reason why no new book will be release until these core rules because it wouldn't make sense to publish a book whose stats are no more valid in 3 months.

I have the answer about Hyborian adventure (from the Runequest forum in fact): http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=25334

That's that. Thanks King. If you find an answer about Age of Conan miniatures game elsewhere let us fans know.

No matter what happens, my friends, I and my gaming group will always play Conan, even if wer'e 'stuck' with what we have already. I will always be optimistic that the line shall continue. I know nothing lasts forever, but you can sure as hell wish it did!

I've been running Conan for 2 1/2 years straight, and my group doesn't want to stop for a long time to come. We've prepared for the Long Cold Wait and we'll be ready for the new products sure to come :D In the meantime, there is still much to explore, more adventures to get tangled up in and the occasional Pict to slay!

I heard about minis but it's a long time I don't use them anymore. (In fact I prefer counters like those in the Shadizar/Messantia box.)

Different topic King - Age of Conan (AOC) was the name of the miniatures skirmisher/mass army game Mongoose was developing and discussing then BLAM! The forum disappeared and the discussion followed. Not sure what the deal is, but hoping this will still happen.

So, unless you like skirmisher games with tokens (Lame-o) then you might be interested in AOC.

Sorry I wasn't clear before.

No I heard about the minis but did'nt remember it was for skirmish battles.

I suppose this all comes from the licence. There was a discussion with Mongoose Oldbear back in 2004-2005 where I clearly made understand that Conan property not only gave licence rights but also wanted to give their approbation for many specifics and details concerning Conan (i.e. the way Hyborian civilizations and their armies would look like when compared to ancient historical cultures - the is still probably there if you try the word byzantine in the search.

Later msprange postponed until further notice the boxed set Hyborian Kingdoms which should have been something better than AD&D Birthright, mentionning they had a lot of difficulties. These difficulties weren't specified but we can guess it was an licence issue.
