Huge Purchase, box completeness review

Mongoose
I've been saving money for a year to buy something. With my birthday coming and my love of Babylon 5 and camping waxing, I splurged big time on a purchase. I'm not done yet - I'll have all but the League fleets before too long.

Anyway, Mongoose has had a reputation for shoddy work on their mini's - either packaging or miscasts. I thought you guys might like to see how I came out:

First the problems:

Minbari Fleet Box: Missing 3 Large Flight bases and 3 Sharlin upper fins :-(
Centaurian Fleet Box: Missing 4 Large Flight Bases,
Narn Reinforcements Box: G'Karith hull is irreparably mis-cast
Solust Blist Pack - missing fins

What was complete and didn't have unfixable casting problems:
Vorlon Fleet Box
Shadow Fleet box
Shadow Hunter Blister
Minbari Reinforcements
Centauri Reinforcement Box
Centauri Octurion Box
Centauri Corvan
Centauri Haven
Centauri Altarian
Centauri Mograth
Narn Fleet Box
Narn Bin Tak Box
Narn Dag'Kar

All told I say it was excellent. I'm waiting on the 3 Era Earth Boxes, ISA and later Drakh boxes. I'll let you know how they come out.

Although the Sharlin mistake was a blow, I was pleased that they actually did a good job. I'll let you know how I do getting replacements for the missing parts.

I think they have had so many problems that they have made major efforts to improve

Which is a good thing!

They are also generally very good about replacing missing parts.

The amount of effort and cost this incurs for them though you would think it cost effective to just do a slightly better quality control job at production and packing. Rectifying an issue then is quick and cheap.

I second that. In general I have found certainly in the past that Mongoose's manufacturers have quite possibly the worst QA I have ever encountered, sometimes it beggers belief!
The reverse is true of their in-house customer support which I have always found to be excellent (as testified by two missing G'Karith rings arriving in the post today, true to Chris's word - Thank you!)

Like you say though, if only this could be avoided at the source, it would ultimately save revenue for Mongoose that could be so much better invested elsewhere rather than fixing the manufacturer and packaging deficiencies!

I know Mongoose like any company need to maintain good supplier relationships with their manufacturers, but honestly somtimes you really just want to think they are cracking heads sometimes the QA errors that could so easilly be avoided.
