[HS] New Recruits

Hi,

I bought Hammer's Slammers yesterday and I have skimmed the book through and began to read it through from the beginning. A question arised when I read the beginning of the introductionary adventure.

How the new recruits will be generated? Are they generated using normal Traveller and Mercenary careers without getting any of the HS careers? What about mustering out benefits?

Based on the books, it seems that most of the recruits came from a military background (Army or Mercenary or Marines), although there are exceptions such as the kid from the primitive planet in The Tank Lords.

Personally, I would go with 1-2 terms in any of the Army careers for the most part. If the character uses the Mercenary careers, then he/she was probably recruited from another mercenary unit into the slammers.

Occasionally, I would through in a wildly out of character recruit, either a Noble or Citizen or something.

Okay, so I will put characters through 1-2 terms of army careers and then have them be enlisted to Hammer's Slammers. The special HS careers are reserved for characters that have already spent time in the merc unit before the game begins?
