Howard stories as published Adventures

Is it paul or bear...Is it possible under your licence to publish some of RE Howards stories as published adventures for the RPG...for example...Rogues in the house. I'd love to see then fully illustrated. Collection value alone would make them worth getting even if you didn't like RPG's.

What about Mongoose's campaign ideas like for Slaine...A fully packaged product ...Rules, Gazetter, Source books, adventures. would make this a very attractive buy for many.

:p

We do have plans for publishing adventures and they will be inspired or partly drawn from some of Howard's stories but we've not planned any 'direct' story-adventure conversions. But, that might change in the future if there was the demand for it.

I demand it!

I think it would be a great idea to publish some of the Howard stories as adventures! Of course some would be unsuitable, but more than a few would port over quite well. Since these are shorter stories, maybe they could be combined into a larger volume or two, ala Tales of Freeport.

Why don't you guys just read a story and then run an adventure off of it? Why wait for a publication?

I've rarely used published adventures; I've always just made up my own. I've run many DnD adventures based on Howard's various works - all without any published scenarios.

I think Mongoose would expand these stories a little, and make them fit in a scenario / campaign. After all - they have access to un-modified and unreleased Howard's texts, or am I mistaken?

Because frankly, as d20 is one of the most time-intensive systems for a GM to run - given the lengthy time for NPC generation, I'd prefer to have such sample scenarios done for me.

I have no lack of imagination, but there are times when I just don't have the time to prep anything.

As I'd mentioned also in a previous thread (or earlier in this one - they tend to overlap), I'd prefer also if such adaptations took some liberties with the stories and made them more suitable for groups, which is the tack that the James Bond 007 RPG did.

That's a great idea and I plan on doing it, but the thread is a survey about possible future supplements for the game. I think a lot of GMs would like to see pregens for REH stories.

I prefer to see campaign elements that can be revisited, and adventure seeds, and a few sample NPC's than actual adventure modules. I can do so much more with a seed than a module (which I find to actually take more work to run than one I make up - I have to memorize the plot and the events so it doesn't run slowly, etc... With an NPC or adventure I make up, I know what is going on, what the NPC can do, etc.).

We'll be featuring the stats for NPCs in the supplements and on the website over time. Most of the supplements will include story and campaign seeds, some being more fleshed out than others. I'm also intending to have adventures made available in the future, through Signs and Portents and other methods.
