How wide should roads be for the vehicles of BFEVO?
Could someone give me the measurements so I can start constructing roads?

big enough for cars :) eek

ok for mine they are 2 lanes split in teh middle by them little lines to tell trafic to keep out of the way of stuff comming the other way total road width 4" thats 2" per lane and a M1A2 measuring 2 1/4" across so looks good, oh and pavments are 1" on either side of road so 2 tanks can pass ;)

Not to nitpick, but is that 2/4" or 2 1/4"..... I'll go with at least 4 inches across myself for the road although I think an M1 takes a lane and a half anyway. At least any that I drove next to at Ft. Knox. It could just be my fear of getting run over though. :)

A solider base is 22mm. Eyeballing it the new PLA FAV is about 1.75" wide. I'd probably go with 5" wide for both lanes. And if you are going for "drop on the board and play" style roads instead of directly integrated with the terrain, I'd go with with .5" on either side for shoulders to get an easy to integrate 6" wide road.

2 1/4 soz for miss type

6" is 2 wide wen i tested it as its quite a larg are for dead mans land.

also 4" wide roads are way big enough for tanks but keep the tank looking intimidating ;)

best thing is to see what suits your table and terrain best.

I'll jump in here. Mongoose has said that they used 5" for their roads, so you now know that if it helps. I've used 2" lanes for my past urban roads. I wanted any later tanks to not fit single lanes (on purpose) and accurately use more than a civvy vehicle would find "comfortable". So I'd say anywhere from 2" to 2-1/2" for a road lane should be fine. City blocks are not standardised either around the globe, as I said in a past S&P article about urban terrain. See below if you have the time to kill-

Scenic Mayhem article, with page 53 showing urban terrain with parking lanes and ped crossings.

This Scenic Mayhem conclusion to the previous article suggests one way to make urban base sections. Trivia note is that there were only two ways that I was suggesting in the article to arrange the boards even though there are "three" layout board options (oops). The two ways to arrange the boards though give a way to focus infantry action either to the center or to the outside table edges depending on how they are used. Page 52 shows an outdoor "cafe" area with tables and chairs to think of for additional play area.

Looks great, Mr Evil. Show us some later shots when you add structures, and don't forget some closer shots as well. That should play very well!

Evil, did you make that board or buy it? It looks printed.

I'm guessing it is a printed map from AT-43, although I don't have that game. Anyway, that's my guess.

That is a cool looking terrain board/mat.

But it's (a) NOT from AT-43 and it's also (b) NOT from Gangs of Mega City One. So do tell Mr Evil, is that something you made yourself, or is it a terrain foldout mat from some other game?

its a paper terrian mat GW produced my local toy store had one and it looked perfect for use and conversion to stalingrad for FOW.

all i did was cut it into sections, and mount it on 2'x4' bits of wood, that will then lay over my nor mal games table and clamped down to it.

im currently making sections of terrain that fit each open area, chemical plants, storage depots and so on, basicly an area that wouldnt be overly populated but offer loads of interesting cover options.

best to ask questions on the city terrain post ive done though as this is now going off topic.

Sweet! Sorry I missed out on getting one myself. That is just the sort of thing I would have picked up without a second thought. A 4' x 6' terrain mat? Man, I'm only sorry they were limited run.

Thanks for letting me know.

NOT Mongoose approved  :?: :?:  :?:  :?: :?:

Obviously it must be the wrong "Scale" have you calculated the road width @ 1/64 scale to 4 decimal places

Seriously though it looks cool - I tried to get one of the GW terrain mats - they are pretty much non-existent in the states.

lol

well the roads look the right scale with 1:64 cars and they look right compared to british challys i used to see on the road when i worked around the tank park doing deliveries.

but any other questions can you put in the city terrain post so i can answer them better and go a little of topic with extra info.
