How reliable is Mongoose to order from (I'm in the US)

Mongoose
Have any of you ordered from the Mongoose website and if so, did it take long to get your order? I was going to order 2 Psi corp motherships and a pack of Shadowfuries considering I can't get them here. I just wanted to check because I wouldn't want to be charged now and then receive the product 4 months later.

depends entirely on what ships you order. maybe contact them to check stock before placing an order.

They are very reliable and have good customer service but currently they are having a few issues in terms of throughput of their stock. Some items aren't fully in stock but will be eventually.

I agree that if in doubt, contact them and see what they have in at the moment.

If you want to order from a company in the States, there is FRP games in Calif. I have ordered breaching pods which were not in stock at the time of ordering. They work directly with Mongoose, which is casting in Dayton, Oh. I had the order in less than 2 weeks. You can email FRP and ask for availability and estimated time of delivery. They are very good with customer relations. Hope this helps.

With stock control being so poor, check availability, whoever you order from, before you place your order.

Well..We got one internet site selling boxes and books, one selling whatever they got(which is not much and is expensive)+ a store(fantasy games) which orders from mongoose but not has only Starship Troopers(bah) in store.

I know there are a finnish guys(I assume  ) playing B5 and we got a tournament a year(wohoo), but we(me and three guys) are thinking of marching in to the store selling Starship Troopers(+GW etc) and telling them to order up some ships, put them on display and build us a demo table so we can show that B5 is better(+CHEAPER =) then GW games :P

don´t know when this is going to happen but would be nice to have a store to go to when you want something and not always having to order from Hobbybox

Ask the shop if you guys can run demos of the game, and join the Mongoose infintry at the Same time, that way you earn points $8 a demo depending the length of it and then you can trade points in for ships etc.

Build your own demo table. It's not hard.

Go to anywhere that you can buy glass and get some plexi. Flick some white paint on it with a toothbrush. Spray some black paint over the white, turn it so the unpainted face is up and you have your board to put on a table...

Isn't that a bit slippery? Wouldn't the ships slide around a lot?

A hard table to play on is not an option...As we do not play in the same place all the time and we are all poor students so we don´t own a car big enough to drag around a table of that size =)

Any ideas on how to use a rugg(spelling?) to just roll over a table to get the nice "star sky" to play on :)

Interesting, to here about earing some ships just by playing a few games and explaining what is going on =)

will have to consort with my friends.

You can use black felt. There is a company in Canada called Hotz game mats. Using felt you can paint the stars as was mentioned and then spray on some colored nebula clouds or what else you see fit or your artistic talents allow. Then mat can be rolled up and transported easily.

We made some great tables very cheaply. Get 2 pieces of 2' x 4' MDF from B&Q (about £1.50 each). Fix them together with a "hinge" of Gaffer tape, remember to put this on the bottom of the board so it is covered up when playing. You can glue the gaffer tape to make it stronger. Use a roller to paint it black. Spray paint some gas clouds etc on. Flick white specs for stars with a cut-off brush.

The only expensive part is the spray paints, they make it look really good but are optional. The boards are only 2' by 4' so fit in a car quite easily.

There are maps of the sky you can get. Really no more than just pictures of space on paper. They can get up to pretty good size. Or, if they're not big enough, you can go to Staples and get a bigger copy made.

Also, using my idea, get a couple smaller pieces of glass and fit them together when you're ready to play.

We use the mats without the hexes. Since all movement is from 0 degrees to 45 or 90. We also use the galeforce nine templates for measuring.
