How many ships/fighters can you get get on a planet?

In our club campaign we've been having a fair amount of plant assault games and there a now finding ourselves in situations that are not covered in the rules at all

1. As the title states How many fighters and ships can you actually have on the planet ie in atmosphere not landed.

2. according to the rules ships in atmosphere cant be shot at yet if you are in low orbit bombarding the planet surely you can shoot at ships in the atmosphere! (House rule we have it so ships with accurate can shoot fighter in atmosphere and with precise can shoot ships seems to work so far)

3. Surely if stella debris blocks line of sight then when in atmosphere on the other side of a planet from where you are being shot the planet itself would block ie you cant shoot through the equator of a planet!

Yeah, that happens from time to time no matter what game you play. Just find something that fits your groups style and run with it.

Planets are huge in comparison to ships. I'd say you can fit as many of each as you like on it.

The ships/fighter in the atmosphere might be on the other side of the planet to the vessels in orbit, much like you say below, additionally, the footprint of the vessels weapons in near orbit would be much tighter than if they were thousands of km away in high orbit and beyond (grab a torch and point it at a wall when close and far away, see how the light changes).

Stop drinking so much lager then :) or at least toss the crushed cans somewhere where they will not be in the way. Not too sure what you are asking about LOS through Stellar debris here though.
