How do other players track Interceptors?

Just to get this right:

Interceptors X means that for each die from a hit, X dice are rolled to intercept that die.

Correct?

Anyway, do you, just use dice to represent the amount of Interceptors for each ship or do you write it down on a piece of scrap paper? Any ideas for effective methods to track Interceptors?

I rarely have interceptors, but I just use dice on the target number to represent what is left available to me. so if my tashkat is shot twice, I roll my 5 dice on 2's, one fails, so i roll 4 on 3's and damnit one fails, but then i place 3 dice, with the 4 up next to the shp ready for later attacks.

if you are hit 6 times, and have interceptors 2:

for hit #1 roll 2 dice, need 2's.
EX: 6, 2 both succeed
for hit #2, roll 2 dice, need 3's.
EX: 5, 1 one fail one succeed
for hit # 3 roll 1 dice (because one failed), need 4's
EX: 4 Success
for hit #4 roll 1 dice, need 5's
EX: 3 - Fail. This hit gets through, and interceptors are now depleted (all dice have failed). 2 hits left to resolve.
Derpleted interceptors will knock down incoming hits on a 6 only.
2 hits left, roll 2 dice.
EX: 5, 6 one success, one failure. one gets through. 4 of the 6 hits are intercepted, 2 get through, and the ships interceptor's are depleted until the next game turn.

At the beginning of a new round, I place X dices on the "2" face near ships with Interceptors/X
And after using the interceptors, I replace the remaining dices near the ship, the visible face with the score to get the next time.

Exemple :
Start : 3 dices on "2" near my Omega
1st shots : 2 hits, all stopped, all success : I place 3 dices with the "4" face on the top.
2nd shots : 1 hit, stopped, only 2 dices remain : I place 2 dices with the "5" face on the top.
3rd shots : many hits, none stopped : I only get 1 dice which can stop hits on a "6", so I place 1 dice with "6" on the top.

It works fine, as long as you take care not to throw the others dices on the table, near my EA ships :)

Thats basically what I figured out to do it :D I just didn't know if there was a better way.

And, I have grabbed those dice for rolls, not remembering they were my "Interceptor Dice". :x

We use little teensy weensy dice from Pirates packs. You can easily sit 2 or 3 of them on a ship's base with the appropriate number up, even with the small bases I use.

Ain't they cute little dice. I even used them to play the pirates game once. Though they see more use as interceptor dice. Just don't use the D3s they also released. I did once and wondered why my interceptors were misbehaving for a while....

Yup I do the same as the folks above, just leave the interceptor dice I get to roll on further hits with the target number up next to the ships that have them after they take fire the first time, there isnt really any quicker and easier way of doing it that I can think of and its keeps it nice and visual so both you and your opponent can see what the state of play is like with them.

I should say, we don't actually roll those dice, we just use them as markers. We'd lose them...

I thought once all the interceptors miss you cannot keep rolling to intercept AD.

I understand the:

2+
3+
4+
5+
6+

But after you miss with all the interceptor dice for a ship isn't that it until next turn?

the instant the interceptors are spent, one shot gets thorugh, then any remaining shots to resolve can be rolled against with 1 D6 each.

you always get one dice needing a 6+ against all hits once youve 'exhausted' your interceptors. The only time you dont roll at all is if the ship is crippled or if your dealing with weapons that bypass them (beams, emines etc)
