How about some ADF Infantry with Bushmaster IMV's?

Hi all!

Firstly, let me get my bias out of the way. I am Australian, and do think that we have some of the best trained and equipped Light Infantry in the world.

Having got that out in the open, am I the only one would be interested in buying ADF guys and Bushmaster IMV's? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bushmaster_IMV As far as I know, no-one yet makes a model of this new beastie, in any scale, thus making it very hard to even proxy the thing!

The Bushmaster is also in use with the Dutch troops in Afghanistan, and is apparently being assessed for the USMC and the UAE forces. The new Dutch ones also have the SWARM remote weapons station on board, and I'm guessing that this sort of thing would be standard by 2015... the ADF is looking at this now. (Seems poking your head and torso out through a ring mount to fire the main weapon gets old fairly quickly in a combat zone... who'd have thought? :wink: )

So how about ADF as support or allies for the USMC (The most likely scenario!)? Or at the very least :idea: .... how about a Bushmaster?

What do we think?
 
i think the ozzies should be a British ally not an American one. Perhaps britain should not be part of ETFT, and should have its own allies. Although this shouldnt happen until their are more ETFT units and some ozzies and canadians. I reckon the commonwealth should make itself into a faction!
 
Yes, Australia is part of the Commonwealth... now. In ten years... who knows? If Britain goes down the Euro path (as she does seem determined to, at a governmental level), Aussies would be even less willing to take instructions from London, seeing as the REAL istructions would be coming from Brussels! Our foreign policy since WW2 has been to follow Washington... into Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq... twice.

As for Australia being it's own Faction.... that would be nice, but unrealistic. Our troops exercise FAR more with the US than with anyone else, we have just bought M1A1 MBT's so that our crews can be flown in to man US tanks, if required. Being the only Westernised nation in our region (Excepting New Zealand, of course... aren't they cute!) means that we HAVE to have a Big Friend.... and we have picked the US. Besides... it beats being their enemy! (Just!) :lol:
 
Excellent work on the cards and stats, Chewie. I'd love for MP to do some Aussie guys, but failing that I might have to get some Eureka dudes.

BTW, I notice on your evocommand details that you are on the Central Coast... Are you OK after the storms & floods?

thats why i want the british to not be in the ETFT. Bring back the old empire etc. Invade France agian like we used to etc.i
 
Why would the UK want to go back to the Comonwealth, most of the old empire wants nothing to do with us. I like the idea of Allying Oz and NZ with the states, which then gives a real combat for the PLA vrs the US. If you then allie Canada with Europe then you have a nice huge land war to fight between the US and the Europe, as America can once again try and conquor Canada ;)
 
Hmmmmm..... Bloody long way for us to go to invade. And when we did, we would just be snubbed by the locals, who would insist on speaking a language that noone else understands, and having bizarre customs that we cannot hope to fathom, and all the while, you can see that they think that they are actually better than us!

Gee, if we wanted that, we would just invade New Zealand!

(Pause for laugh track...... nothing..... moves on!) :lol:

Seriously, most young Aussies feel far more attatchment culturally to the US than the UK. I don't think that we are likely to go to war against the UK anytime soon... unless they oppose our New Zealand invasion (...still no laugh track.... damn!) but if the UK was invaded,we would probably just make Stern Diplomatic Noises. Like we did during the Falklands. You would have noticed the stirring lack of support there!

Nothing personal of course, (I am actually an Anglophile) (Which doesn't involve reporting my whereabouts to the Local Constabulary twice a week, thank you very much!) But we, as a nation, just don't care that much!
 
yes but for the game i'd like it if Britain were seperate, that way i can invade europe AND america but would still have a good choice of models from. but i know that in real life australia are more allied with america than britain. good job this game isnt real life!
 
I think there are other models that Mongoose should be looking at first such as the Puma, VCBI, BMP-2 and filling in that glaring missing faction hole - the US Army. After those have been addressed, an Aussie box as US allies would be nice for sure, but I guarantee you every Aussie will be pissed because they won't be as good as they expect them to be. It's probably better if Mongoose just leaves them out and concentrates on getting the US right.

didn't have power for 4 days, but we got lucky with only a destroyed fence :)

all we would really need is this to slot into a US army to give it a 'aussie' flavour:
ADF infantry
ADF SASR
ADF Bushmaster or ASLAV

true. :D we have a mystic and massive reputation about our the quality and skill our army over hear (its well deserved and earnt thou :twisted: )
 
Yeah! We are awesome..... just ask us!

However, there is a reason that during the Vietnam war, our Area of Operations was under control following Long Tan. There is also a reason why we have only had one Iraq War fatality, and that from some sort of barrackroom ND. I also believe, but may be wrong, that we have only had a single fatality in Afghanistan as well?

The ADF is a very professional and switched on bunch... on duty. Of duty, of course, they are MP's nightmares... but, hey! You can't make an omlete without cracking a few eggs!
 
The amazing feats performed by Aussie soldiers in Vietnam and the ones we're hearing about in Afghanistan were done with US support beside them and British training behind them. If Australia has the best Light Infantry in the world it's only because of what the two best modern armies in the world have made us.
 
Ok, I accept that MGP is unlikely to make either ADF Infantry or Bushamaster IMV's. Shame, really. So I am badgering the guys at Eureka miniatures http://www.eurekamin.com.au to try to release one to go with their Modern ADF. Any supporting emails would be GREATLY appreciated!

Let's face it... What is the chance of there being any future warzone that we Aussies won't invite ourselves to? :D
