Hmm...SST went down on the list...

Dr. Rooster

Mongoose
I just noticed that mongoose has put SST down further down the list.

Just a thought, but has Mongoose perhaps, stopped with the hype about SST, with all these new games coming out, they've sort of put if off to the side.

They're not releasing anything untill 2007 or not?

It just makes me wonder... :?

yeah i saw that too . battlefeild looks cool . but sst is a hell lot better in my book . it seems like its takeing a back seat. sst can be so much more!! im still behind it!

SST Evo isn't due out until April '07. VaS and BFE need a more immediate push. Once BFE gets its day, SST Evo will probably start to take the main stage in miniatures. Actually, I mean hopefully instead of probably.

SST takes a lot more playtesting to balance.

All the troops in BFE are human and most weapons fall into a few small groups.

SST has 4+ races and a broad range of weapons and HtH attacks to balance.

So you can either have it quick or have it right

I will admit, I was a bit put off by the move, but I agree with the change. They want BF: Evo to be at the front and center right now because their release is right aroung the corner just as they put SST at the top when it was being released. I'm sure when SST: Evo is near release it will move back up again. Also, come on people! You can't have it both ways! A few weeks ago everyone was complaining about there being no BF: Evo forum and now they're complaining that it's too high on the list!

Also, I would like to reiterate how difficult balancing is in SST compared to BF: Evo.

Yes, both will have 4 armies at release, but Humans are Humans. Skinnies, Forth, and Arachnids are not humans. It's MUCH easier to balance a game when every army has quite similar stats. This is not to say the BF: Evo armies aren't varied, just that they are only as varied as humans can be from each other.

Furthermore, the technology is also far advanced in SST. In BF: Evo, we didn't really have to test many units that could jump across the table in a couple of moves let alone test models as powerful as tanks jumping around. We also didn't have to balance much CC or any tunneling for BF: Evo. Also, weapons like the neural beamer, abundant heavy weapons, and Forth battlesuits are just so different from anything in BF: Evo that it makes it an entirely different game (even though the rulebooks may appear to be identical)

Another benefit of the later SST release is the fact that things in SST need not be completely set in stone by the time BF: Evo is released, which will allow MGP to get valuable public playtesting in so that any possible kinks in BF: Evo (knock on wood) can be resolved before SST: Evo is released.

So, don't worry, the game is only getting better.
