Hero Points/luck points for Lone Wolf Multiplayer...

Has anybody integrated a luck/karma/courage/joss point system for their Lone Wolf Multiplayer games?

I'm planning to run my nieces & nephews through a scenario or two and after a few sessions of Tunnels & Trolls 7.5 I quickly learned the kids really need some kind of dynamic editing ability otherwise they feel cheated. Blame video game save systems...

Anyways what I was thinking was giving the players 1 point to start with and granting another at each Rank. When spent the point would grant a flat bonus, say +3 or +4 to whatever task was being attempted. Alternatively it could be spent to reroll a die roll or it could be used to restore a few Endurance or Willpower points, again 4-8 points.

Once spent the point is gone and only extraordinary courage, dedication, and roleplay can earn it back.

An option could also be implementing a Luck attribute that is spent 1:1 to as a bonus to your actions which then goes down 1 point every time it's used. This is more or less borrowed from Arion Games Advanced Fighting Fantasy.

Some of the RPoL games have been using Fate Points, which is basically granted for cool roleplaying, etc and spending one allows a reroll.
