Has the J/K/N "misprint" actually bee announced?

Court Jester

Mongoose
Has the J/K/N "misprint" actually bee announced anywhere official? On the website? On the forum? Or at least has it been announced somewhere visible and not hidden away in an FAQ download or thr rules forum...

It would seem that a misprint like that would be announced somewhere... Or are we meant to only find out when playtesters tell us in the middle of a thread or we find it on some random fan website?

Just curious thats all...

Are you talking about the Torps, if so its cos they are on a turntable

There's been reference in other threads that the 4AD (IIRC) for the JIKN class is a misprint and should only be 1.

Aye Jester's got it...

I assume the PDF is more updated on this sort of thing as they can fix it relatively easily after spotting mistakes in the print run.

That may be the case but surly telling us its a mistake would be nice? Instead there are probably people ouyt there who don't read these forums who are playing it with 4AD.

Anyhow... maybe there is some more awerness now.

Personally I'd like to keep it at 4AD... so um... everyone forget I said anything... yes, thats right...

mongoose support towards VAS is a big fat ZERO so far.
Matt has moved on to a number of other big projects. VaS was originally meant to be a free giveaway in S&P - even when it was announced as a book, it was only meant to be a short run publication. There is much more to come, support and expansion, but the success of VaS has been unexpected and means Matt has a bit much on his plate at the moment...

if it was free then that would have been cool but seeing as it wasnt i guess i tend to either A expect a better product or B expect better support.

i dont know how anyone can talk about much more to come when they wont support the first release.

i'm sorry if i'm being a bit harsh. i really like the game, honest but after reading this forum non-stop i guess all fo the ambiguity and gaps in the rules are getting to me. that and the fact that mongoose cant take a second to answer a simple question like how does damage effect turning, i mean come on...

In my experience with other historical rulesets the level of support from Mongoose has been amazing (errate and clarification for many historical sets often takes years to appear!). I guess its both a bonus and curse of the Internet that people have come to expect (possibly rightly to some extent) instant answers.

One thing about errata is that as soon as the pdf is done some bright spark will notice something else immeditely after the work is done meaning I would have to go back and do it all again. :?

An errata plus descriptions on how things work officially will be forthcoming at some point in the not too distant future, but the book has only been out a month and we do like to ensure that we cover as many questions as possible in any errata / FAQ pdf as is possible (and sensible).

I am all in favour of an FAQ document that is complete but I must say I also have no problem whatsoever with a FAQ that is updated over time...

It's not really that hard to go back into an In-Design document add that extra paragraph of text and generate a new pdf... then FTP it onto the web and fix the link on the site and update the date next to the entry...

BUt as long as something is in the works all is cool.
