I got the Hammer's Slammers Trav supplement because I liked the sound of the setting.

I saw these three collections on Amazon, how much of the original fiction do theycontain I have never read any of the original fiction so I'm a bit of a newb in this setting.

They've got pretty much everything. There is, IIRC, one novel set in the same universe, but that isn't a Slammers story so it's not in those collections, but everything else is there.

I keep meaning to pick up the second and third anthologies, but haven't yet... The first was quite good, though I had already read a few pieces from before it was collected.

And yeah, the one in the Hammerverse but not about the Slammers is The Forlorn Hope. It was also pretty good, and quite a contrast with the Slammers, who are professional and well-equipped, while the Company in Forlorn Hope is not-so-well equipped, and rather scrappy.

Some of the Hammer's Slammers books are available free as ebooks from Baen Books. Here's The Tank Lords: http://www.baenebooks.com/p-624-the-tank-lords.aspx
