Gwenthia: Playtesters Wanted!

Playtesters wanted for Gwenthia.

For over two years, The Design Mechanism has been developing the world of Gwenthia as a setting for roleplaying adventure. Our intention is to publish the setting using the RuneQuest rules (under the OGL licence), and we are now at the stage where we have a workable draft of the rule system and setting, and wish to start external playtests.

Gwenthia is the name of a world where humans co-exist with alien races, genetically enhanced and mutated creatures, and magical entities. If you’re familiar with Glorantha, Jorune, or Tekumel, Gwenthia has a similar approach and feel, although it is also a unique and detailed environment that is very different to these fine settings.

The RuneQuest rules, whilst providing an ideal engine for Gwenthia, have therefore been tweaked, in line with OGL and SRDs, to reflect Gwenthia’s unique traits.

If you’re interested in becoming a playtester, and you agree to the playtest conditions (nothing too arduous, I assure you!), The Design Mechanism will supply you with a whole plethora of materials to support your playtesting, including:

• A copy of the Gwenthia setting
  Specially produced support materials for your players
  A comprehensive and detailed Playtest Kit, covering the specific rules variations for Gwenthia
  Character Sheet
  Playtest Feedback sheets

In return for playtesting, you’ll be given full credit in the Gwenthia book when published. Other rewards may also be forthcoming, but have yet to be agreed.

Being a bit busy at the university right now, I hesitate to volunteer.

It would still be nice if you would post a few details of the setting on this thread. What is the emphasis? What are the defining features of the setting? What genre or flavour are you going for?

If you take a look at the Gwenthia wiki (http://www.gwenthia.org), you'll get a very good idea of the setting and its background. There's also very good PDF document available on the wiki that answers all your questions.

[edit] Right. I did look it up. I have to say you people desperately need a starting page that says what this setting is about, what makes it unique and why I want to hear more about it.

The wiki is a nightmare. A huge torrent of text that is very hard to figure out. I propably makes a lot of sense to you guys, but it's not at all easy to get into from the outside.

The 'Gwenthia Overview' PDF, available from the main wiki page, is the best place for beginners, but you're quite right to point out that this isn't clear or helpful. I'll see what I can get done on that score.
