Grim and Gritty Combat for Conan

Well, it's not much of a difference to the regular Conan system. Defense, Damage Reduction, been there, done that. Conan D20 combat already is pretty gritty. IMHO there's no need to make it more so.
* HP already are capped at level 10,
* MDT almost guarantees insta-kills from mid-level onward,
* Power Attack is sort of like "Relative Degree with brains", because you have to decide yourself how hard you want to hit, and don't get all the benefits automatically at no risk.

One thing the Conan system doesn't have is crippling wounds (like "lost a leg") which so many G&G systems seem to love. And it's damn good that Conan doesn't have them, because they suck. It's a mechanism that only ever works against the players, because mooks die anyway and only PCs would ever have to live with the loss of a hand or the like. And any mechanism that exists solely to shaft players is a bad one.
 
I agree with the Cloven Hoofed one here. There's nothing new or better here, and injury tables suck Set's scaly bum! If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!
