Howdy All,
Picked up the Victory at Sea rulebook on Wednesday at EndGame, based on a few friends recos (old BSG fan here). I was able to give it a few read throughs, and then got back down to EG today for a couple of battles.
My opponent (code name: Irate Squirrel) had done all the real leg work, and prepared fleet lists for our agreed upon battle: Battle of Denmark Straight. He used Burger's excellent online tool for that, and we used counters on a 4 x 6 table.
I took the Brits the first time around, and pulled off a very marginal win. The Hood did not go down, or at least first...
After lunch, we switched sides. I managed to sink the Hood, but the Bismark was crippled and dead in the water after return fire from the Prince of Wales.
All-in-all, a fun time. I enjoyed the game, and think it's a fine set of straightforward rules.
Kudos to Burger for the fleet card generator, and Poi for the handy reference sheet, both of which made VaS much more playable "right out of the box". And MP for a fun set of rules, of course.
