My "personal" source is this one: http://www.mythome.org/mythhome.htm, especially the section "Myth by culture".
What I like there is the different pronounciation and writting of some gods (especially those fo the middle east) who also progressively become different gods (that is: they don't have anymore the same fields of "specialization" and take new one).
This is there that I learnt that Ishtar could very well be named Ashtoreth elsewhere and even became probably the Greek Aphrodite.
