Glorantha: Malkioni sub-cults

Mongoose
The number of sub-cults which fall under the heading of Malkioni Sorcery Orders is leaving me feeling like a deer in the headlights.

Where can I find information on:

1) Saint Gerlant the Flame King
2) Saint Arkat

They aren't covered in either the Campaign Setting or the Cults books. (At least that I can see).

Jamie “Trotsky” Revell’ spent years writing material for the West of Glorantha but which ultimately failed to see publication thanks to emerging differences of vision with The Moon Design team (as I understand it all anyway). D101 Games is releasing his work soon as an unofficial supplement (with Moon Designs blessing),' The Book of Glorious Joy' which should be the most complete vision of the Malkioni West (including religion) yet published. All Third Age, but I'm sure much of the material is relevant to Second. I'm very much looking forward to it! A preview can be downloaded here..

It should be noted that Moon Design are planning on publishing a 'Guide to Glorantha' (Third Age) later this year which I believe will include a lot (including much new) official info on Malkionism . I have not read the Stafford Library's 'The Middle Sea Empire', but I believe it covers a lot of Malkioni history and theology.

Dougie -:).

1) He is the King of Seshnela during the War that ends the First Age. Initially an ally of Arkat, he later betrays him when he turns to pagan ways. He wields the Flaming Sword, so venerating him gives the faithful the ability to turn his sword into a flaming one.

2) Dude, you could write BOOKS about Arkat. He is the Arch-enemy of the Deceiver, tries almost all forms of cult and worship known to man, wields the Sword That Cuts Iron and betrays even his own humanity in his quest to vanquish his enemy. In the end he succeeds and kills Gbaji, giving rise to the Dark Empire that precedes the GL empire. Or so they say...

Seriously, check etyries.com for some simple but useful info about the traditional Malkioni saints. What Nick wrote in 199x is very sketchy compared to the current standards, but it has not been Gregged, so you can trust that stuff. Of course you can also check the Middle Sea Empire or the Book of Glorious Joy, but albeit much more complete these might prove to be also More Than You Can Chew.
