Gears of war tabletop

Mongoose
Maybe not many units, but a good backstory to the war, and could be cheaper then getting halo..

Maybe i mix battlefield Evo/Sst with GOMC for a one to one battle system, would work, i have made Evo stats for Gomc System....

I do like the look of the game

I actually thought of taking all my bits and making some CoG marines and statting them with the SST system. I really like using a slightly modified SST system for small squad action.

Yeah i thought of this yesterday, lol. I realized that the things going on in game seemed PERFECT for a miniatures tabletop wargame.

The things like two different forces (Cogs and Locust), the different unit types (Gears, Carmine, Grubs, Drones, Generals, Corpsers, Seeders, Nemis',etc) in other words, locust have a vast number of units... But given the abilaty to hold any weapon. Made by locust or Cog.

The locust would seem to have some starship troopers arachnid rules, like Emergence holes.. The rule about cover would also be interesting. Say you want your unit to blind fire at an enemy unit. The target roll would have to be minus 2 or something since you can't see. But youd have an advantage to be nearly invincible (unless someone throws a Bolo grenade or uses a hammer of dawn on you) But you would also have the option to aim, but risk yourself to enemy fire.

Another interesting thing would be different ways to move about. Say you'd want to scamper across the field from point a to point b (lets say it is a very long distance) You would be able to use a special move that allows you to travel 12 inches or something. But leaving you with either a cover option or fire option. or another option to dodge to another object within 4 inches away. or roll, climb over, etc.

Oh, since there wouldnt be that many types of characters, we should also be able to buy the terrain like boxes, crates, walls, buildings... Just so that way the gam e would come ready to play. Because its all about the cover.

Why would it matter if it used some sst rules? It would still be a very nice game. Isnt it a good thing the SST rules are inspiring other games?

I'm not saying it would be a problem for it to use SST rules. Exactly the opposite in fact.

I'm saying that the game styles are so similar its not worth coming up with a different set of rules for them! The SST not so huge that there would be sufficent demand that it would be worthwhile to produce ANOTHER sci-fi infantry combat game that was "close, but not quite" SST.

I have beem playing around with ideas/notes for different systems and have the following

Necromunda
I guess the best option with the chainsaw already in etc, lots of rolls of course.

The old west ( LOTR RULES )
Simple system, moves faster, for a quickler game

Both can handle larger monsters etc, Necro has more detailed weapons and rules for ammo etc..

OR

GOMC..!!!

Breath life into the old dog etc..!!!
spd ag res cc hits wtf
COG 5" 5+ 6 2d6 1 3+
DRONE 5" 5+ 7/8 2d6 1 2+

Snub pistol 10" 1d6 sd 1d6+2 dam

Lancer 20" 2d6 sd 1d6+3 dam

Any body play tested with the 3 systems do let me know

So do it skirmish system rather than squad. Individual Gears vs. small units of Locusts (i.e. a Gear unit would give youa Gear, a Locust unit would give you 2-10 Locusty chaps etc.) Then add some serious cover and have fun. I think Infinity would be a better system base onyl with ARO's knocked out.
