Game boards

Can anyone recommend a place to buy gaming boards?

I bought a mixture of 2cm and 4cm thick flocked polystyrene boards a few year ago but the company which made them has siince disappeared (gone bust?). I think it was PMC games.

Anyway, anyone know anywhere in the UK that still does them?

Just go to B&Q or any other DIY store and buy 3 2x4 bits of 1-2cm thick MDF and paint them, or put a cloth over them. They last for ages and will take one hell of a pounding.

If you want to be cheap I have one for you too

Got to a carpenters shop and get some fine sawdust from them for free. Take as much as they will allow. I have a 5 gallon bucket
Take the saw dust and add it to some kind of mixing containers, again I used 5 gallon buckets. Add RIT clothes dye to them and let the saw dust soak overnight. Dump the sawdust out with over a fine screen and you have instant flock that you can add to anything. If you can reuse the dye over again too!

I used

Dk Green
Yellow
Brown

I added yellow to the brown and the green to make them lighter. I have a sorts of flock made up for game boards.

Buy some mdf board from Home Depot and have them cut them down to 2'x2' squares and make yourself some modular (interchangeable) boards up. Also you can add height with green/pink/blue foam from Home depot also. Use wood putty to fill in the cracks and paint over with watered down elmers glue then flock before it drys.

While I like the idea financially of making my own, one of the reasons I got into BF Evo is the pre-painted feature. I just don't have the time I used to have for such projects.

I was thinking about ordering the Invasion Table Top from the Warzone.

Anybody have any experience with them? Are these reasonably priced for what you get? Any advice or expertise here would be welcome.

ive seen one and they look good, considered trying to make one, till i realised it was one of these, but they dont supplie out side of us and canada :( so had to make my own in end.

All my outdoor terrain is from War-Zone. I purchased around $700.00 of their stuff back when Mage Knight came out. I do own couple of the battle boards. The 8x5 and the 4x4 and all good stuff really holds up well.
See attached photo I had from a few post back. Everything is from them(see in back ground) Hills / board / trees... except the river and rock formations(not shown). I will get some better pictures for you when I have time. Plus I need to take some pics of the Crescent Root buildings I bought last week...they kick A$$!

I've been looking at maybe a board in the "badlands" color but would have to get all new hills to match and I already have tons of hills in the standard. So I'm on the fence...and out of money!

I got the Arena board (4X4) a couple years ago to demo Warmachine and it has held up very nicely despite a lot of abuse (being thrown into the truck, etc).

I perfer making my own terrain. I should take some pics of my city stuff that I built. Galactic Fat Pat knows what they look like!

"Little Bird Down"...something I'm working on. The US in the "Mog"...no, something like "The Brits in Basra"

I really need desert terrain...something I'm working on.

I also have an arena board (used when chainmail came out). It held up pretty good, someone dropped a metal mini on it and it made a slice in the board. It's only styrofoam.

Dorb, where did you get those crates? Nice looking set-up. Those are cresent root building yeah?

Bought the crates off ebay. This guy always has some posted. (2 right now-frt. is expensive) But they do look good. Lots of different sizes.

And yes the buildings are Crescent Root. Mark with Crescent Root says he is looking to add more items in this line in the coming months. They are working on a Mosque...cant wait to see this.(but its been pushed back) I really want to create a "Black Hawk Down" kinda of battle field except in a MEA type area. - Of course as money and the wife approve. Think I'm going to go with the War-Zone badlands color for another Desert battlefield. You can get extra flock to match the board which would be nice to allow the minis base to blend in better.
