Curfews for those under 18 are the way to go. I was jumped once by a gang walking home from a night out at 4am, the police made me feel like I was the one who shouldnt have been out at that time even though I was heading home. They also did nothing about it and had the gall to ask if I wanted to meet the gang and talk out my issues - I said only if I could beat the hell out of all them in return.

You've got to be f'ing kidding me? If this is true (you aren't leaving anything out such as picking the fight yourself) as a popo I'm embarrassed for my brothers across the pond.

Evidence has cropped up that Mr Duggan did not have a weapon ON him.

Just a guess, I wasn't there (like any media reporting on this) but the truth could be explained by: he had a gun in the car WITH him, just not ON him.

I was talking about gun law in general in this country.

Hey I agree with Mr. Troll-Brain on something! A few well-publicized media reports of shop owners blowing holes in looters with shotguns would probably slow down the pillaging a bit.

^ Didnt pick a fight, I was actually hit by someone in a group walking infront of us, so they had to stop then turn around to hit me.

Its appalling, I didnt even get to hit back after that, four guys started whaling on me, one for each point of the compass, so I was screwed anyway. After the second blow it stopped hurting. My mates thought I died there and then.

Cops even ripped into me for being whaled on by someone younger than me. :?

Well, the full story, as we've heard, was that the taxi was stopped as part of an anti-shooting policy (stop and search). It might be that the gun wasn't visible - we'll need to know.

There's a lot of unsubstantiated rumours flying around.

Incidently, the IPCC stands for Independant Police Complaints Commission, for any non-UK-members...

It was similar over here until a series of incidents where teenagers killed
people, including a man who had intervened when a gang was threatening
some children. Today such behaviour is taken a lot more serious by our
police.
