First Pass Questions

Emperor Mongoose
Hello;

I figure the High Guard will get a lot of loving attention, so I thought I would start with the vehicles. :mrgreen:

Ok, couple of questions on the "Core Chassis Types" chapter to start.

1) Is there a reason we could not create an open frame "Light Ground Vehicle" without it being a motorcycle? Take an open Jeep for example, wouldn't that be an open frame light ground vehicle? Or a Honda gator type vehicles should be open frame and are clearly not motorcycles.

2) Why not allow the traits to be added to any vehicle type where desired? I want to make a 4 wheeled light vehicle that is designed for real rough off-roading, say the Baha 500 type vehicle or those crazy Jeep rock climbers. Shouldn't I be allowed to pay for and thus gain an ATV trait for it? I do not see how at this point, that can be done without adding more wheels.

3) You list and thus suggest Rail vehicles (Trains, got to love them). But as written it is not clear how the engine is impacted by adding additional "Unpowered Vehicle" rail cars to the line. If I make a rail light vehicle (mine train engine) how many unpowered vehicles can I attach to it? Or, by the way, this also applies to non-rail vehicles. If I make an eighteen wheeler, how does adding the second trailer impact the performance etc?

4) With the various aircraft listed, where are the rotorcraft? I see tilt wings and STOL but it is not clear where the rotorcraft come in?

5) You have a section for unpowered boats, where do the powered boats come into this? Should they be an additional add on to the "ground vehicles"? How can I make my personal sub for example?

I do realize there are a few chapters missing so you may already cover these things, but I would make that clear that it is covered in "Chapter X on Page XX" kind of statements.

Good questions!

As mentioned in the playtest notes, the VHB is the least advanced and the types of vehicles you mention will be in the final. We just need to make sure everything else works first.

We'll get some feedback over the next 3-4 weeks, and in the next revision you will see a lot more...

Sounds good. I will continue to work with what I have and offer additional feedback. :mrgreen:

Note that we have not yet added trains per se, just a rail modification for 'normal' ground vehicles. Use the normal towing rules for them (New Rules chapter).

Trains will be something... different.
