Finally bought BF:Evo. Pics of my PLA & Buildings

I swore I'd never buy BF:Evo, even though I'm a big fan of SST. My friend and regular SST opponent recently bought a bunch of USMC, and I thought they looked pretty good. I felt that he needed an army to fight against so I finally broke down and bought 3 PLA squads and 3 PLA tanks. I bought them from 2 local stores, both of whom have similar discount programs (get a card punched with every purchase, redeem for free stuff when full). So I was able to get it all for about $100 by cashing in two cards.

In my opinion, the paint jobs are adequate, although the eyes could use a touch up here and there. One figure broke off the base when I was unpacking them. I'm now looking forward to playing. Considering that I still have a ton of unpainted SST stuff, I can definitely see the appeal of pre-paints. I'm glad I was able to buy them at a discount, as I think they're a little overpriced at list price.

Scott, somehow I think that there will be a rush on middle-eastern gaming structures, don't you? BTW, nice pics!

Thanks! :) Actually, BuShips, I've had those buildings for 20 years. I used to game 19th century colonial British vs. Pathans in the Northwest Frontier (i.e, Afganistan) using old 25mm Ral Partha figures. It's a pleasant coincidence that the new BF:Evo figs are fairly close to those old 25mm figures, so my old buildings should work well.

There is nothing as sweet as "free" gaming structures, lol. They should work fine!

What luck to have those kinds of buildings "laying around."

Yes, I was lucky to still have my old buildings. I've been gaming with miniatures (mostly historical) for 30 years (yes, I'm old), and I am a pack rat. Not only do I still have my old colonial buildings, I still have my old miniatures

 It occurs to me that BF:Evo would really be very easy to adapt to 19th colonial warfare. I used to game with the classic Sword and the Flame rules (who else remembers those?), which used a random card-based sequence of play. BF:Evo would work wonderfully for smaller 19th century colonial battles, I think. The basic BF:Evo rule sheet would work perfectly with no changes, so it would just be a matter of rating the units and coming up with special traits. I think I'll give this some thought...

Well Scott, I've been wargaming for about 22 years, so you don't have me by that much  . My first miniatures rule set was "Lance" and I painted a Medieval Swiss army that would always get shot up by English longbowmen  .
