Federation drones, and IDF

IDF says you contribute your phasers and drones to any friendly ship in range of your weapon for defense fire.

Federation drone racks give you AD if you use them defensively.

Would a federation ship using IDF and using its drones defensively for another ship count as providing anti-drone to the friendly ship, or just the normal rules for using drones against drones.

Sadly at present only the Phasers and Drones can be used. I'm still dropping hints about the escort trait being able to fire ADDs and D-Racks at range but that would only be for dedicated escorts.

Your normal ships under IDF can fire Phasers or Drones against incoming seeking weapons. Its something to do with those Drone 1 Fed ships anyway

Just remember though if you make the IDF roll and then use your Drone to defend someone else you have locked out your ADD for that turn so expect a cunning or evil enemy to throw Drones at the now defenceless ship

It would be great if ADD could be contributed too - the problem is that races with ADD right now don't have anywhere near the issue of dealing with drones as the races that don't have ADD.

What would be nice is if you didn't have to roll for IDF - man its so unpredictable. Hopefully Escorts don't have to roll for it or they are going to become useless fast!
