Earth Minbari War Variant Ship Legality

Dies Irae

Mongoose
Now that I've gotten my grubby paws on the Armageddon supplemental, are the various Earth Minbari War variant ships like the Orestes Dreadnought and the Nova variants still acceptible in play, or does the Armageddon book completely over-rule everything else?

The stuff in the Earth/Minbari War book was only really designed for a campaign set in that time and the scenarios in the book. It's entirely up to the players involved as to whether you allow them to be used outside of that period (some of the in-service dates stretch beyond the war). Official tournaments would normally only allow Armageddon lists, but (at least personally) I don't see any reason why you couldn't use them as long as your group had no objections. After all, the Armageddon ships are generally better than the Minbari War ships. Just look at the Hyperion Pulse Cruiser stats.

In tournament play generally not though as noted by and large the non unieque varients in there are genrally not as good as the Armageddon/SFoS ships anyway. Personally if your using armageddon I would suggest if your going to allow the EM war ships you allow them only with early years EA (for obvious reasons)

Actually I like the nova varients. They have a hull 6 and I have no love for LPA's. Now if laser mode extended the range by 50% there would be a good reson to use it. But I like the bolter version.

The Bolter Nova Prototype is hideously effective since the sheer fire it can put out more than makes up for the loss of the Pseudo-Beam weaponry. Especially if you factor in the Hull 6.

The Orestes Dreadnought is also by far, the most efficient Orestes variant yet. The Front Arc Laser Cannon makes a lot of difference.

That's possibly a misprint and the forward Heavy Pulse Cannon should have the F arc and the Medium Laser the B arc. No other EA ship mounts non-boresighted lasers, including the later Monitor version of the Orestes.
