EA Warlock

In SFOS and the tournament EA list it is indeed a war choice. However, in Armageddon the Warlock is Armageddon level (if a bit weak for a ARM level ship). Rumor has it, it will be moving back down to War in 2nd ed.

However, don't expect it to retain it's new stats.

it is, think even matt said this in his 2e round up. personally i think its now one of the best war level ships out there, definately a top end of the PL.

I've seen them take out my Balvarian in 1 round. Normaly those are damn hard to kill. Heavy Missles just plain rock.
 
The Warlock as it stands is an ARMAGEDDON CHOICE. It is going back down to War level but not with its Armageddon stat line! It may be a tad weak for an Armegddon choice but if they simply dropped it a PL without changing anything it would be broken beyond belief!

Yes it would! However as we are talking about a 2e ship its hard to judge what is broken or not.

As an Armageddon choice I think the Warlock is a bit lacking but I have seen them used and do well against Centauri and Minbari (against the Vorlon it was critted out of the running in 2 turns: Speed 0 and No damage control)

Erm what? I play Crusade EA as my primary fleet and have used the Warlock extensively in all its versions against lots of different examples. I suggest you think twice before stating things you have no idea about. The warlock SUCKS as an armageddon level ship.

If you think its good then you need to stop and think for a minute: Is it really a match for two Octurions? Or two Bin Taks?

How about two Sharlins? A Victory Destroyer? A Vorlon heavy cruiser?

Just because its no worse than most of the OTHER armageddon level ships doesnt make it good. It's still not worth taking over two Command Omegas as it stands or for that matter, three Marathons! Nonetheless if you drop it straight down to War as it stands its way too good, as it is clearly better than any one War level ship at the moment.

My overall point though is you shouldnt be so quick to dismiss peoples oppinions with comments like 'you dont play EA' when you have no clue whatsoever whether this is true or not (feel free to disagree with my arguments as much as you like, but if you make comments like 'your talking out of your arse try actually playing it' youd better be damn sure you know what your saying or I will get a bit grumpy ;))
 
I think he may have been using a touch of sarcasm though. I'm sure no EA player would complain if it's current statline became war ;-)
as an arm ship it is poor, I reckon an octurion or bintak could take it, let alone the two you could currently get.
 
For the record I WOULD complain if its current statline became War. I want my fleet to be balanced and fun to play not just powerful!

When I win a game I want it to be because I played well and deserved the victory not just because I had a better fleet list ;)
 
You see this is the problem with so much talking about 2e. People get confused with what is present and what is future.

Yeah 2e is making quite a few people nervous and makes em mess up with the stats ^^.
 
One reason i hate the Armagedon book, the tourney lists were pretty good & then they revert back SFOS. My Demos was almost worth taking & then reverted back to poo. Guess I got Prefects back to make up for it not that i use them. I despise the model & stats are OTT.
 
That's what sucks about the Warlock; GREAT looking model and I so want to use it...but I've not played a single game using Armageddon PL, and probably never will. In fact, I've not seen a single Armageddon ship fielded. Ever.
