EA vs. Pak III

So timeslip wanted revenge after the last game we had...so 5pt battle; his 3 Omegas and 2 Apollos vs my Convoy Guardian, 3 UrikHals, a Halik, 2 Ikortas and 4 wings of Porfatis...

PShulShi survived but was immobile w/o front weapons:

To summarize, the P'shul Shi was left stranded by speed 0 crits by the Apollos in the first turn. Third turn its foreward weapons were taken out. So, my remaining 3pt. Battle versus his 5...I concentrated on the Apollos, successfully taking both out, all the while losing an Ikorta, Porfatis and an UrikHal to combined fire from timeslip's Omegas. I was hoping to kill his init. sinks, then outmaneuver his boresights, but I didn't expect to lost the P'ShulShi so early.

Oh, if you're wondering what the things on the pakmara stems are, they represent torpedoes ready to fire. Too many ships with slow-loading - beads all over the place. So I cut up some straws and used those. Cheap and effective! Hardest part was finding a straw that went with my pak color scheme.

Hey prelude_to_war Great Pic, But in other maters..... What happend wiht the Nike? I didn't see it in the game. Are making more of those nike cruiser?

Ah, a sweet victory it was. Especially after the huge lose last time we met. That Gaurdian is one tough ship. It took almost everything I had to take it down. The Pak are one tough race. Till next time when we tangle!

I think the flying arrowhead formation of WS against the Shadow Omegas is the best formation of ships I've seen.

I still love the paintjob on those Pak'Ma'Ra ships. The EA stuff looks good too but the reason the Pak'Ma'Ra always impress me is because I wasn't sure if it was possible to get a good color setup for them. Prelude to War found one. Alas I couldn't paint that well if my life depended on it.

So is the general consensus that the Pak'Ma'Ra are balanced as long as they're a single race fleet still holding?

We've flown them mixed fleet as well with no noticeable issues. The only issue we've seen is the Narn had a tough time with them. Really think it comes down to do you have an active defense to deal with the initial volley, not so much can they take something to fill the holes in the fleet.

Scout is useful but not over the top (no any more so than for beam races anyway)

Carrier to provide escort for the Porfatis...didn't see a noticeable advantage here either. Probably helped keep a couple Por-boys alive for a bit, but they died just fine to ships guns. I think they tend to get one strike off and then start to die fast due to low dodge. The hull is not noticeably better than the hull 5 on the Sky Serpent and the T-bolt, while the dodge is noticeably worse.

Not seeing anything else they could really get form other races except maybe a troop ship.
