EA Missile Variants

In a Campaign when are the missile variants chosen? Before a battle like the Narn E-Mine configuration or are they allocated at a different time? And if they are like the E-Mines are they allocated before any terrain is rolled up or do they get the advantage of knowing what kind of terrain they will be facing and can choose accordingly?

They are normally chosen prior to the battle

 

[Burger]

They are chosen at fleet selection stage, same as e-mine types, before scenery is generated.
