EA boxes

I am still deciding on what fleet to get next. One of the choices I have narrowed down to is EA. Now which box set should I go for. Crusades, or third age? I might get both but would like to see what everyone thinks first.

Who cares what everyone else thinks? Which do you want to play?

I favour 3rd age, myself, but that's because I like the timeline of the main series better than Crusade. If you want to be a power player, the 3rd age box has more utility; you can use most everything in it in either the early years and 3rd age or 3rd age and Crusade period.

I prefer 3rd or Crusade, but I got all of my EA before the split.

Theres a lot of overlap. You could easily buy a 3rd age box plus a couple of Marathons, Apollos, Chronos, etc. and have a valid fleet for either age. Harder to do with the Crusade fleet box

You can still get the old EA fleet box which may work out better value (depending on what ships you want).

The 3rd age fleet contains Hyperions and might be updated with the new models on the horizon.

Any sign of the new hyperions I thought they were due out at Xmas but they don't appear to be on the front page of the site.

And you folks dismiss the Early Era so easily

Personally Id say it depends on your playing style, the size of games your playing and what ships you like most.

Early EA has a good selection of ships at the lower spectrum

Third Age is a pretty good all round fleet

Crusade Era comes more into its own at higher priority level games

of course thats only my own opinion and i like all 3 fleets but as most games we play are 5 raid my preference leans with the Early Era

as has (repeatedly) been stated, they were awaiting the release of the Drakh Mothership, which, I can say has finally been released, no no, honestly, i have one ;-)
therefore, expect the hyperions sometime in the next month at a guess. I guess their "may" be some available at mongoose this weekend, I'm sure i will be able to tell yo if they are.

IIRC Matt said they had been delayed slightly and there wouldn't be any this weekend, but they would be out in February.

I ordered a 3rd age fleet box today. Manifest destiny here I come. I have been looking for a old crusade box but no luck on that. Every place that I found is out of stock.
