Drow War Book 3

This post is full of spoilers and intended for DMs so any players that are here: nothing to see here, move on...

OK, so my group have played through about the first half of book 3, but wait, they're actually more like 70% through!

They've completed the "Vanguard" chapter and correctly deduced that the planes are being destroyed by the drow and that they have some strange N-bomb constructions that they are doing it with.

The campaign, as written, now has 3 chapters where the Starborn are supposed to track down 3 legendary artifacts that could destroy planes. But they already know that these artifacts are not what's being used.

So these chapters seem like a waste of time and, potentially 3 wasted and frustrating sessions for my players. I'm very tempted to skip them entirely and go straight to "Steel Never Sleeps". I've raised the issue with my players and they came to pretty much the same conclusion (apart from the potential XPs and treasure to be gained).

Anyone else got this far and hit the same problem? How did you resolve it?

Cheers,

TC

I haven't got that far but why not take the approach that whilst they could go straight ahead and skip these chapters, the Drow are also looking for these artifacts in order to use them in part of their plans? Therefore the party needs to located them to keep them safe and from being used as a backup.

We are up to almost the same point now. (logs at http://www.shokaster.com/roundrobin/viewforum.php?f=23)

I'm going to get them to retrieve the artifacts first. Hopefully that will give a better story flow.
