Drahk scout trait

Greetings all,

I have one that might have been addressed already. If so I missed it. This past Saturday I was getting killed by the drahk (I play Vree). The 1st round a question came up that we were unsure of. I had 4 scouts on the board. He had 2 scouts on another ship. For argument sake...lets say I only had 1 scout...would he get the scout re-roll for initial setup and 1st round??

Remember, his scouts were not deployed at that point. Do his scouts need to be on the board (on their own?) or does he get the scout ability (even if they are not deployed?)

Just wondering if anyone knows the answer. I mean, it could come up for him another time. And it would be nice to have a answer!

Thanks for everyones time and attention.

"As long as you have more ships with the Scout trait than the enemy fleet, you may reroll initiative for both setting up and control of the first turn, so long as the scenario allows these rolls in the first place."
Going by the rules as written, it looks like you just have to have the scouts for them to count, rather than having to have them deployed.

As a common sense answer though, how can a scout be of any benefit when it's just sitting around in a hanger? It wouldn't surprise me if it gets ruled that you do need to have the scout deployed for it to count, as it feels against the spirit of the rules that undeployed ships can affect the battle in such a way. Probably the best bet is to ask in rulemasters, toss a dice, and wait for Matt to make a judgement.

Slight complication is that Scouts don't need LOS for their abilities - that being said I would say that if a ship / fighter etc is in the hanger it plays no part in the game.

stick it on rulesmasters ?

Well none of the ships are on the table for the deployment init roll... so I don't see why the scouts in hangars shouldn't count for that. As for turn 1, as neko says, the RAW suggests that they do count but common sense would say no. Same query would apply to scouts in hyperspace, I guess.
